K Baby modeled her outfit for you all before she had a sweet blowout and I had to change her in the middle of coaching a class. Great timing girlfriend.
Before After
Someone from the gym got her the Burpee onsie! It’s would be more appropriate if it referred to her bowel movements. π
Anyways, enough about poop for one day.
Kensie still hasn’t cut a tooth! I thought for sure it was coming soon. In this photo, she was actually pulling on her ears. She’s been doing it a lot this week and her doctor said it is a sign, so we shall see!
Between working out and then coaching 2 hours back to back – K was such a trooper! I set her up in this chair while I lifted next to her and she basically ate the mirror the whole time until she got sleepy.
When she started fussing and rubbing her eyes, I set her pacifier on the tray and she put it right in her mouth.
I’m super biased, but I thought it was adorable.
I also promise I worked out in between the 728374 photos I took. π
This post is super late because I chose watching Scandal and sleeping over blogging last night…but I promise tonight’s will be up as soon as I get the nugget to bed because we get to share he EXCITING NEWS! π
Kens and I had a great hump day!!! We started our morning off with a sweet coffee date with Toni!
Straight chillen with those chunk thighs.
When she woke up from her nap she joined the party. She’s already a pro at girls day!
She wanted to feel included.
We had some errands to run after and in the middle of them I had to feed her. Since she was already out of her seat, I decided to wear her into the store for the first time.
Smile Kens!! Or not. That. Face. π
She loved looking around and smiling at people. The cashier told her she was a “super model baby” and Kens gummy smiled the mess out of her. Such a ham.
And the most exciting part of my day – I made Kens an Easter onsie!!! I got a Cricut a while back and finally put it to use!
Bows of Kensington is currently taking place in the dining room while my office is getting painted…
My mother-in-law got us the “Bows of Kensington” sign made for Christmas. Once the extra room is painted it’s going to be Kensie’s play room/the office/craft room so we will have the perfect place for it!
Now I want to make ALL THE THINGS!!!
I also got some pretty cool news this week and have a fun surprise for you guys on Friday!! Woohoo!! #freebiefriday π
WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH INTERNET BULLYING?! And I’m not just referring to the blantant comments or people that initiate it; but, the people who bully the bully.
“You’re such a bully and you should stop being a bully so I’m going to bully you!!!”
Wait. WHAT!?
I got out my phone to start K’s blog tonight and was scrolling through Facebook and came across an article about a company being sued because their leggings keep ripping.
I started reading through the comments and saw the gem that lit everyone right up:
Woof. Okay I understand how that could elicit some not so kind responses. Then I saw this:
Wait.
“Grow up and keep your mean comments to yourself.” That may have been an okay response if it didnt start with, “I hope you gain a bunch of weight and cry…” π€
So it’s not okay for her to make a rude comment about someone’s size but it’s totally okay to say that to her? And from one comment on Facebook you’re questioning how she’s raising her children?
She made an unnecessary comment, we can probably all agree on that, but she didn’t even directly attack anyone.
Yeah. Karma…you may as well have told her you hope her house burns down. Because, karma? But, you’re right. She’s sooo mean. And you’re soooo nice. (Side note: thanks for the sensors Brittney! ;))
This was a response among others that called her (original commenter) a “tacky bitch” and “uneducated” and told her she shouldn’t say things like that. Yeah, ladies. I’m sure you all taught her a lesson in kindness and humility with those responses.
Before I was even ready to start having babies, I always thought “I don’t know how I could deal with the stress of having a kid. There’s so many bad people out there. I can’t let her ride a bus, what if someone bullies her? I can’t let her walk to school. What if someone kidnaps her? I can’t let her spend the night at someone’s house. What if she’s exposed to inappropriate things?” How would I ever know my kid is always okay?!
Now that I am a mom, I’ve learned part of being a mom is that you’re going to worry. About everything. Big and small. For what I assume is the rest of my life…
But damn. If I can just teach this little girl to be KIND to people (and exercise a little common sense), I think I’ll feel somewhat accomplished.
My Gramps always told me if I swallowed the watermelon seeds one would grow in my belly. Turns out he wasn’t lying.
The happiest watermelon!
Kensie was such a great little chunk today! We had no blowouts and even though she barely napped, she played her little heart out while I got lots of work done!
Lucy babysat for me
Emily played with Kens while I was coaching and she won the great eye flutter battle and got Miss FOMO to nap at the gym!
Little chunk munk looks so cozy
She laid her down so she could go workout and a few minutes later we had this goober…
Yeah that isn’t where that goes, Kens.
Usually her not sleeping much during the day doesn’t correlate to her sleeping longer at night – but tonight it sure got her to pass out quickly!
I feel like all those rolls are about to stretch out and she’s going to grow out of those PJs and her entire crib by the end of the week…slow down little one!
It was right after I took this photo that Kensie had an explosion and had to change outfits. π
Pre-poop face. So innocent.
Kensie had a great Sunday Funday full of family time!! We went to church in the morning and then Gramma, Grandpa her Uncles and Grand Aunt all came to to town for a visit!!
She dozed off for her morning nap in her car seat so I kept her with us instead of taking her to the nursery. Fail.
About 5 minutes in they played a song and K woke up. She sat quietly thumping her foot for a little while then decided it was time to have a conversation. So, this is how she spent the rest of the service:
Thanks for the seat, Dad.
Chris & I had a meeting in the afternoon so Kens got to hang at the house with the family while they were in town!
Kensie’s “Grand” Aunt Beth from Wisconsin!
I think it’s safe to say she enjoyed herself! These sweet giggles are the BEST sound!! (I shouldn’t have turned the video halfway through…whoops.)
Pretty sure Kensington’s High School superlative is going to be “Life of the Party”.
Appropriate? π10pm just watching basketball and playing with her feet…
I feel a growth spurt coming on! Kensie was cluster feeding like crazy today and nursed herself to sleep for the first time since she was a month or 2 old. I can’t actually remember the last time it happened!
And I couldn’t put her down so momma got a nap, too. WIN!
She slept while I worked out this morning and took 2 naps this afternoon. I tried to sneak in a quick layout session during her first nap but by the time I got out there it only lasted about 20 minutes.
ο»ΏNapping to the soothing sound of barbells dropping…
We decided to bring K out for a little fun in the…shade.
Then she pooped up her outfit (for the 2nd time today) so we put on a swimsuit. We missed the window for this one because it was way too small on her, haha!
Oh heyyyy girl!
We couldn’t put her all the way in because we didn’t have any “swim” diapers, but she loved standing there! (Also because it was freaking cold and I wasn’t about to get in…)
Someone’s ready to dive in. Literally.
When we got back inside Kensie took a TWO AND A HALF HOUR NAP!!! π Since the suit didn’t fit, I went through her clothes to put away the small ones and get out her larger ones. Nothing slaps you in the face that she’s growing too fast like that will! OUT
Growing like a little weed. πͺ
Since she napped until her bed time, we went out to dinner with some friends to watch the basketball games. Kens had a blast and somehow kept herself up until almost 10:30.
Thanks for the finger, Carolyn!
The good news is she went straight from her car seat to her crib without blinking. Hopefully she partied hard enough to let me get a long stretch of uninterrupted sleep before chow cow wants to eat again!
Kensie started our morning with quite the bang. I usually love her morning snuggles, but today they didn’t last long…
That’s one way to get me out of bed quickly.
The rest of the day K was great! I got a little work done in the morning and then we ran some errands.
The best shopping buddy!
Kensie has been LOVING that she can sit up on her own now. When she’s over her toys and swing and jumper…this is the one thing that makes her oh so happy!
Look ma!! (Plus drooling)
I coached the late class Friday so Chris took Kensie home from the gym and had some daddy daughter time! It was extremely weird coaching without Kens there. I kept turning around and checking for her.
She was good for daddy and then I got home, fed her and she went right to sleep. Thank goodness! It’s been the easiest night putting her to bed in a while. Lately she’s like wrestling a baby alligator waving her arms all over the place. π
Kensie went with us to a friend’s birthday dinner tonight so she got to stay out late and party. I just laid her in her crib (where she’s currently scooting around talking to herself) and thought about her vibrating mattress wedge and how all of my pregnant friends (seriously so many of them right now. Yay for babies!!!) ask what they actually need/don’t need. I remember feeling the same exact way so I figured I’ll make a list!
Here are 12 things that have saved us these last 23 weeks:
Boppy. We’ve used it since day one and its been used for many different things every day since! 3000% necessary investment.
A vacuum. Most of you know it used to be the only way to calm my child down. But in all seriousness, a white noise app will save your life (and sanity) at some point, I promise.
Ergo baby. Or some sort of carrier you can wear. Hands-free life for mom and comfort for the baby all in one. My only regret is not thinking of using it more often when she was smaller!
Mattress wedge that vibrates. I didn’t know this existed until Kensie was about 3.5-4 months, but I think it would have been amazing from day 1. She’s always slept better propped up and she used to only sleep in her vibrating chair. Best of both worlds.
Binxy baby. This might be the best baby invention, ever. No more trying to push a stroller and drag a cart around like a crazy person. It holds her up so I still have room in the cart. The hammock holds her car seat if I want and I can transition her directly into it!
Disclaimer: this isn’t Kensie. It’s from their ad for demo purposes, lol Introducing a bottle early. Even if you want to exclusively breastfeed. We gave her one by week 3 and never had any issues, even when we switched brands. Many of my friends that waited longer had a lot of trouble getting their babies to take them at all.
Chiropractor. And not just any. If you’re in Orlando, Dr Christina at Revival Chiropractic is the best! I know this is controversial for many people. We had very mixed feelings and I was hesitant to bring her at first, but it’s something I’ll start with our second baby immediately! We saw drastic improvements with her gas issues, sleeping and crying when she started going. We’ve also noticed she seemed to dodge the cold that Chris and I kept passing back and forth!
Baby bath. Our sink is too small so it only worked for about a week for sponge baths. I loved the hammock part when she was smaller and now there’s a lump that blocks sliding down but allows her to be IN the water!
Baby Einstein. Because she loves it and it’s how I’m able to make my breakfast and coffee in the mornings!
Oxi clean. Because shit happens. Literally. And it’s saved all of her outfits!
A car seat. Mainly because you can’t leave the hospital without one. And it might be illegal not to.
Really, and I mean REALLY good friends. Especially if you don’t have family down the street. You’ll need the support in every single way. Having people around that are understanding and love your baby too, is a life saver! It truly takes a village so I suggest having the best possible one. There’s not a day I go to bed without thanking God for the amazing people in Kensie’s life!
There’s others not pictured, but you get the jist. We are pretty dang lucky to have this crew in our corner!
KENSIE HAD HER FIRST FOOD TODAY! Completely unintentionally…and no, it wasn’t her foot. Also I know she isn’t wearing a bow in this photo but it was too good not to share.
As I was eating lunch, Kensie kept trying to grab my sandwich from me. Finally I just let her to see what she’d do. She just slobbered on the bread.

But it gets better. As I was eating my fruit she wanted that too. I figured she’d do the same thing. I let her grab the strawberry and she started sucking on it. K LOVED the juice.
Then I took it out of her mouth to find she actually took out a whole chunk and swallowed it!
I let her do it twice so she really got 2 small chunks not a big one. She’s fine I promise…
So, a strawberry is officially her first food. Whoops!
K’s “I put every single thing” in my mouth phase has gone from a level 6 to a level 10 in the last few days.
We’ve graduated from fingers to toes. Kensie rocking her new moccasin sandals! Just kidding. Kensie EATING her new moccasin sandals.
Rubber ducky, you’re the one!
Books are also for eating.
All of these photos are from today, I promise. And last but not least, I caught this gold on video tonight. It speaks for itself. π
You know how good it feels to get back from a trip and sleep in your own bed? If so, please let me know what it feels like because Kensie wanted to party at 2am again instead of let me find out.
Luckily it only lasted until about 4:30 this time. Homegirl just had so much to talk about that she couldn’t wait until the sun came up.
Kensie also decided she didn’t want her picture taken today. I sat her up on the bed and she threw herself down and started yelling at me.
When Kensie doesn’t want to smile… Fail. So blurry. But she cute.
We were back to normal life today and this girl was good with it and so was momma!
Morning Naps. Sponsored by Baby Einsteins.
Kens decided to turn her headband into a bow tie…
After K got in a nap and I got some work done, I went to get a much needed pedicure and this chunk was happy as could be the whole time! (thank you Kens!)
Now it’s this momma’s bedtime – really hoping Kens wants to stay asleep tonight!
Looks who’s sleeping sitting up again!
In unrelated news: For anyone who’s read this far…do you happen to know where the heck can I get plain pastel colored onesies?? Please and thanks!!
