Day 314

This child is way too smart. Literally anything Kensie watches me do, she tries to do herself. Last week it wasn’t a fluke – she’s continued opening her baby gate this week (anytime I don’t put the clasp under the second lock, she can open it) and escaped. She also now tries to turn on her bath water. Luckily her grip isn’t that strong…yet.

Kensie was in her playroom today waving at…no one. I asked her what she was doing then I realized Baby Einstein “Baby’s First Moves” was on and it was saying “wave”. 😯 Y’all. The lady that created Baby Einsteins…genius.

We got out of the house for a bit this morning to run some errands. You guys know Kens was all about it.

She won’t look at me because she has to make sure she sees every single person that walks by.

Target should consider hiring greeters like Walmart. Kensie would like to apply. She waved at everyone walking in the door as I got her situated in the cart cover today.

She was hardcore staring down the ladies in line behind me because she wanted to “talk” to them. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

This morning KB slept in like a champ and was a happy babe all day long…and she ate 3oz of purΓ©e for breakfast again today!!

KB partied in the bedroom while I got ready to run errands and she got started her Birthday list…good luck, Chris.

The girl’s got great taste. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

This afternoon at the gym, I set up a new contraption for Kensie when she needs a break from baby jail but I can’t let her crawl around. (Keep your judgemental opinions to yourself).

KB had a blast turning in circles in the jumper! I actually returned this thing 3 times, because we don’t have many door frames in our house to be able to use it on, and apparently it kept going back on our registry so it kept getting re-purchased for us. Finally I just kept it and I figured I’d give it a shot at the gym. She didn’t exactly jump, but I think she liked the new view and she loved spinning around! It was freedom with boundaries. Win/win!

Day 313

Well, this post didn’t get done last night because Kensie was a cry baby and it resulted in me letting her sleep in bed with us. Yeah I’m a pushover. It was more for me than her. πŸ˜‰

Who wouldn’t wanna snuggle that face?

We had another early morning at the gym and Kensie loved seeing “da-da”!

Still has her sleepy eyes

When we got home – it was party time. Casey came over with Harper and Riley for the babes to all play and it’s safe to say that Kensie is slightly infatuated with Ri guy!

Come back! Just love me! πŸ˜‚

Couldn’t leave his side

Anddd the sweetest thing ever. πŸ’•

The rest of our day was pretty routine and involved Kensie throwing her lunch all over the place instead of eating it. I’m not sure exactly how much of her turkey made it to her stomach and how much made it into Jack’s stomach. πŸ™„

What I am sure of is that she turned her muffin into a huge crumbled mess. I found more crumbs every time we did a diaper change the rest of the day…

I don’t really know what was going on with KB last night. She started crying around 10, would doze back off for a few minutes and wake back up wailing. Chris went in and rubbed her back and the second he’d stop, she’d scream again. It was full on hyperventilating type screaming, too.

I don’t know if she had a bad dream, was just uncomfortable or what, but it was definitely not her fussy/annoyed/attention wanting cry. I brought her in bed and held her and even though she stopped crying it took about 5 minutes of deep breaths for her to calm all the way back down so she could fall back asleep.

She only woke up once in the middle of the night to eat and slept in an hour longer than she has been this morning so maybe she just needed her momma…or maybe the crying last night wore her out a little extra.

All I know is I got some extra sleep out of the situation and I think most moms would agree that’s a win!

Day 312

We had a wayyy earlier morning at the gym than normal but luckily KB also had a wayyy too early wake up to go with it. Usually I’m late because I hate waking her up. This morning she woke up just before my alarm ready to rock. πŸ™„

She was in such a great mood and played by herself (almost) the whole time I was coaching! Erin freed her from baby jail at the end and homegirl tried to relive the glory days.

Yeah. She climbed on in all on her own.

Wrong way dude. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I spent the drive home trying to talk and give Kensie toys so she’d stay awake. She had some seriously heavy eyelids as we got inside so she went straight down for her nap. When she woke up, she still wasn’t having it. I laid her down in her playroom and put in Baby Einsteins and she stayed like this for the next 20 minutes.

Case of the Mondays for real

You do you, KB.

Kensie did lots of standing practice today and even showed Aunt Shell how she unlocks her baby gate through FaceTime. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Aunt Shell also ordered K a walker (spoiled rotten) so I give it a solid 2 weeks and Kensie will be running around this place on her own.

She was a happy and independent little lady today which made this momma’s life easy.

And I got sweet post nap snuggles

I was trying to get a photo of her playing SO well all by herself while I coached this afternoon but then she saw Bah Bah (uncle Rob) and it was game over.

Only 4 more sleeps (or lack there of) and sleep training starts! I know she’s “ready”, I just haven’t been. Ready as in she doesn’t need extra food at night and she’s old enough to sleep though the night; but, it’s a bittersweet thing for me. I know that sounds absolutely ridiculous….I need to sleep longer stretches at night for my health – and I know it’s good for K, too. I’m just going to miss the few extra minutes and cuddles I get with her in the middle of the night! The fact that she sleeps in her crib all night now and not in our bed at all is depressing enough for me. Plus, it’s one more sign of independence and this first year is just going way too fast for me!

Can the baby blues come back around a year in? Because I might cry all month when she turns one and I need something to blame it on. πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Day 311

Kensie had an awesome weekend but I’m going to skip right to lunch today because I am STILL so excited that MY CHILD ATE AN ENTIRE MEAL! Like real food. Not breastmilk. She even asked for more, and ate that too! There is a God!!!

All the noms!
Yesterday we went scalloping with friends and Gramma and Uncle Matthew came down to hang with K for the day!

Look Alex, you made the blog! πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚
Working on her selfie skills πŸ˜‚
Kensie would like an iPhone 8 for her first birthday
Party mode with Gramma!
We came home to a sleeping baby, folded laundry and a clean kitchen. So thankful for my momma and that K got to spend time with her this weekend!

Sunday was full of entertainment provided by KB. She kicked off the morning with a great new skill: opening her baby gate! 😳 I was getting ready and Chris was eating breakfast and K was in her playroom. Next thing we know we hear little hands smacking the tile. Homegirl opened the gate and let herself out! πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

This is what trouble looks like.

Guess I need to actually lock thetop latch down now that she figured out how to lift it. Oye.

K took all of her naps in her crib this weekend which means the transition is official and was way easier than I ever thought it would be!

Like I mentioned in the beginning of the post, Kensie ate her big girl food today! Breakfast started out as a bust since she decided to throw and wear her oatmeal instead of eating it.

The look of innocence when she’s far from it…that’s going to get you far in life, K!

She eventually gave in and ate an apple, oat & guava purΓ©e as long as I let her hold the pouch on her own. πŸ™„

During her afternoon nap I made her some Paleo Zuchinni Apple Spice muffins! The only food she seems to love is zuchinni so I figured it was worth a shot. SUCCESS. She loved them!

Recipe link above!

I gave her a little muffin and a slice of turkey for lunch and she devoured it all and signed “more”! Normally I ask if she wants more and she’ll copy me. Today, she just flat out did it on her own.

Turkey and zucchini…what a pallet

She ate the rest and I asked if she was all done and she signed it immediately!! Guys. My momma pride was through the ROOF. I think I legitimately scared Chris with how excited I got. πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

We spent the afternoon hanging out with Baby Henley! And by that I mean the adults hung with Henley and Kensie made sure everyone still played with her, too. πŸ˜‰

Sweet little Henley! (Kensie really wanted to grab her..)
So she needed some Titi Char time too
Kens took a little blast to the past to the days she fit in a mamaroo
A little QT with Uncle Rob aka Bah-bah (I have no idea why she calls him that)
Kensie and Henley’s first outing together to the food trucks! Just missing one more friend. πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚

I was talking about how I need to get Kensie one of those toys she can walk behind this week and Will decided the pouf/ottoman would do the trick…it actually worked and sure enough K was on the move!!!

And for the grand finale of the weekend…Kensie pooped during her bath. Literally. Pooped. In. The. Water. I cleaned shit, HUMAN FECES, out of our bathtub tonight. I’ll spare you the photo (I absolutely took one to blackmail her with one day) because no one wants to see that…but my parenting trophy better be in the mail tomorrow because I EARNED IT. 🀒

Day 310

Yesterday was a great day. Today was not a great day. Have to take the good with the bad, I suppose! Kensie woke up around 6 which normally would be awful, but we had to get up anyway to take the car to the dealership.  Luckily we were rescued by Aunt Casey!

K was extra tired from her earlier than usual wake up, which meant nap time was fought, and fought hard. Regardless, she (begrudgingly) took her first nap in her crib today! She usually naps in her bouncy chair, but after her yelling and throwing her pacifier off her chair about 7 times (in between eye rubs because she was exhasuted) I decided it was the day she would graduate to crib naps.

Let me outta hereeeee!

So, that went well. It took a few (*cough cough* 20) minutes but Miss Overtired finally gave in and let it happen. I think she cut her nap a little short because even when she woke up she wasn’t really having it.

Hi my name is Kensie and I’m cranky.

She played some but she was off and on cranky and would get really mad if I wouldn’t let her have things like remotes, nail clippers and paper. The worst part was since the car was being serviced, we had no way to leave. And we couldn’t even walk the dogs because it was raining. Joy.

In between her fake crying she provided some moments of entertainment, like climbing into her chair…

And it’s not the greatest video but I caught the end of her standing up! She stood on her own at least 5 times today for about 10 seconds but of course when I got the camera out I either “didn’t have storage” or she sat down as soon as I did it.

Kensie was much happier when we got to the gym. She must have been going stir crazy like her mamma! Carolyn and Emily both saved the afternoon with rides to the gym and bringing us to pick the car back up afterward! Super thankful for amazing friends today that didn’t leave me completely stranded.

I think Kensie’s favorite part of the day when was Levi got to the gym. She is OBSESSED with babies and something about him makes her go crazy. She makes a grunting scream every time she sees him and “oos” and “coos” and reaches for him. If you put her down it’s a straight shot of speed crawling to get over to him!

Gimmie that baby!!!

Such a goober.

OH, and I think “Dah” is dog. She says it every single time she sees Jack (our black lab).

All in all, today was not my favorite. However, moments like this mean no day is ever a bad day. (Sound Up)

Day 309

Kensie was the definition of a gym baby today in every sense.

I mean seriously, look at those feet. πŸ˜‚ I promise I bathe her every night…I also promise I cleaned the gym floors this morning. She just finished the job with her crawling. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I coached in the morning today and K was great, but it meant she was late for her morning nap and she had woken up an hour earlier than usual today. She napped for an hour once we left as I ran an errand and then was a little temperamental when she woke up.

Coach Kensie in action…she really just wants me to set her down so she can go play with the markers everyone is using.

Kensie played for a bit but was fussy off and on and refused to eat lunch. I didn’t think she’d been up long enough to go down for her second nap but boy was I wrong.

I let her crawl around a bit and she was happy until she pulled the cabinet open and it pushed her on her butt. πŸ™„ Normally she’d brush it off. This was a very dramatic ordeal.

There’s tired Kens for ya!

And so it begins.

Then we walked the dogs in an attempt to push off her nap some more.

She likes to look at herself in my sunglasses

In between her fussing, I did finally catch a photo of her kissing herself on her mirror.

When I put her down for her nap she was silent and OUT. Guess homegirl really does take after her momma!

While we are (back) on the sleep topic, a friend sent me the Sleep Sense book today. Another friend had sent it to me last time I was talking about it and I saw how long it was, wondered when the heck I’d ever have time to read it, and forgot about it.

I realized today that I only had to read the portion associated with her age. Go me.

Chris has been covering a lot of hours at the gym since we are short coaches right now, so we are going to start the sleep training with her as soon as our new coaches start since I’ll need his help with it.

I’m already counting down the days until I can start sleeping through the night again. πŸ˜‚

Day 308

K was allll about the milk stash today! She spent her entire breakfast signing “all done”. πŸ™„

I tried to ignore her because you can’t be all done when you never even started…but if you continue to try to feed K once she’s told you she’s all done, she’ll do one of 4 things:

1. Smack it out of your hand

2. Throw it

3. Feed it to the dogs

4. Any combination of the above

Kensie wasn’t too great at eating today but she was the BEST napper. She went down for both of her naps with zero fighting or fussing. In between them, B (grandma) and Aunt Sarah came over to play!

And play they did. I had the chance to run some baby free errands and when I got home, little miss was pooped. She went right down for her afternoon nap and when she woke up, she wasn’t ready for it to be over.

Not having it mama. (I thought she was just being snuggly)

Andddd back out she went.

Just make yourself comfy, KB. This is why it’s hard to get to the gym on time…

All that sleeping did her some good – she was happy as could be while I coached! I let her roam around during the beginning of class since there weren’t barbells flying and KB had an obsession with Gaby today. She kept following her and crawling over to wherever she was!

Look mom, I found her again! πŸ˜‚

Once the workout started, I put K in baby jail and she didn’t even pretend fuss! She went straight to her toys and played. She stood up when they started and watched everyone run in and out. I didn’t get a photo or video – but she saw Chris pull up in the back (she could see out the large bay doors) and he got his things out and was standing by the car. K was standing in her baby jail just looking at him out in the parking lot going “Dada! Dada!”

Sometimes when she says Dada I wonder if she’s just saying it or knows what it means. Today proved she DEFINITELY knows who Dada is! Too sweet. Speaking of Dada…this is my view as I write her blog tonight.

Does it get any sweeter?!

I fully intend on putting her back in her crib once I get her post up – but while we are on the topic, I’ve got this (possibly ridiculous) theory on how to get KB to sleep through the night.

I never set alarms anymore because I know Kensie will eventually wake up and in turn, wake me up. Currently, I get up when she wakes throughout the night, usually twice, and feed her. The last 2 nights I have gone in before she wakes up, and fed her earlier so I can get a longer stretch of sleep. So, here’s my theory. I’m going to try it for 2 weeks or so, then I’m going to stop going in.

I’m curious if I set an expectation that she thinks I’ll wake her up to feed her, that she will just sleep until I wake her; similar to how I don’t set an alarm.

If it doesn’t work, at least it lets me get a longer stretch of sleep at night. So really, I win either way. πŸ˜‰

I’ll end this post with an awesome photo of Kensie’s new hairstyle for you to enjoy. I’m still waiting for it to be long enough for a pony tail, but Sam said she’ll continue to style it for her in the meantime. πŸ˜‚

Ace Ventura? Oompa Loompa? A hoo? So many Halloween options.

Day 307

KB took a mini road trip with me to have a special lunch with Aunt Keelin!

Kens was such a “big girl” and tried lots of new foods! She was a fan of the salmon and had some pasta for the first time! She also liked sucking on the lemon. Things she’s not a fan of? Guacamole or avocado.

It looks like she’s ordering but she was just slamming the menu up and down like the classy babe she is.

Alright then.

To no ones surprise, she loved looking around at everyone, waving and “talking” (you all know that’s a synonym for yelling by now). She had a few conversations with an older man at the table next to us and he even understood her sign language for more!

I woke her up from her morning nap that she had JUST fallen asleep for to head to lunch thinking she’d just sleep in the car. Nada. She was extra happy though!

I promise I was watching the road. Hence the bouncing, not centered video.

This afternoon K partied at the gym like usual.

Thanks for sharing the gainz, dad.

I let her get her workout in today with some extra crawling. No matter where you set her down, Kensie eventually finds her way to these clips and either eats them, throws them all on the floor, or both. (We also got her fake cough on camera πŸ™„)

This morning K woke up SO happy and started playing with my phone. She captured some great shots.

Look! She recreated the eclipse!

I turned the camera around to see if she’d accidentally take a selfie. She’s didn’t, but I took one for her.  The flash probably blinded her, but at least I got a cute photo! πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I don’t think we did permanent damage. She didn’t run into anything today so we’re good.

Day 306

For all of you that won’t read the whole blog and just this part, I’ll put the important info first. PSA: if you aren’t handicapped or have a baby to change, go in a normal. freaking. bathroom. stall! I know that you won’t have as much room to play candy crush in there and all, but those of us that actually need that stall would appreciate it.

Rant over.

Happy Eclipse Day! I don’t have a photo of it to share like the rest of the world, so I’ll share my favorite meme from today instead.

I did look for a a second but I’m self-employed so I had to look away before any damage was done. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

Okay, now the reason you’re all here.

Kensie Brooke was a ham and a half all day. As I was getting ready to leave this morning it was rather quiet and I heard a clicking noise coming from the playroom. I caught K hard at work on a jail break.

We finally made it over to see Kensie’s chiro this morning after having to reschedule 3 times. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Told you she was a ham today.

She was pretty pumped to see Dr. Christina! She showed her all her new tricks and gave her an applause with a “yay” when she was all done.

Good thing Dr. Christina can adjust her on the move because the days of laying down for adjustments are long gone.

We stopped by the Hospital on the way home to hang out with Baby Henley and bring the new mom and dad some much needed coffee!

Just waving at her BFF

She had a blast playing with Uncle Will and talking non-stop to everyone that walked in the room.

We made a pit stop at the grocery store since we were slackers this weekend and didn’t quite make it there. I think it’s Kensie’s favorite place because she can talk to everyone that walks by. πŸ™„

Okay Kensie. She also wouldn’t put her legs in the holes.

KB had lunch a little late today but she crushed some turkey!!! She was shoving it in by the fistful.

Since we were on the go a lot today K took her naps in her car and her afternoon nap was much earlier than usual. When we got home from the gym KB was OUT.

I made her wake up once we got inside so she’d go to bed on time and then was trying to be nice and share my post workout snack with her but she got a little greedy. I didn’t even know she liked bananas.

When I got Kensie out of her bath tonight and we looked in the mirror she looked like such a little girl in her towel that I literally did a double take. I think she grew up more overnight. Where did my baby go?!

Day 304 & 305

What a weekend! There were lots of highlights but the best of them all is that  HENLEY IS HERE!!!!

Meet Henley McGee! πŸ’•

We were so excited to meet the newest addition to the tribe and Kensie’s future BFF! K seemed to be pretty excited to meet her, too!

I’m being so good mama! Can I go see Henley now??
Daddy Daughter! 😍
Going to have to wait a few weeks to give those open mouth kisses, KB
Thanks for the pose Kens.
Or she was just excited to see her Uncle Will and Aunt Ashley…but we will pretend like she knew who Henley was. She did say something that sounded like her name when we told her to say “Bye Henley”!

We even got a family photo with Aunt Shell!
This photo makes my heart SO happy!!

Okay, on to the rest of our weekend I suppose. If I haven’t already just with Henley photos, this post will definitely set the record for “most photos”.

Saturday morning was our gym’s 3 year anniversary party!!! K had a special CFEO sparkly Baby Goat shirt to rock in celebration. Here’s a real life evolution of the attempt to get her to take a photo with me in it…

Let me gooooo!
No Kens, you can’t get down right now.
Good enough πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

K, being the natural party animal she is, was a trooper as usual! I took her down the waterslide in hopes she’d love it. “Indifferent” is probably the most accurate way to describe her reaction; but, she didn’t cry and it was 2 hours past nap time so safe to say she didn’t hate it.

K fell asleep in my arms for her nap for the first time in a long time! Miss FOMO finally lost the battle.

Saturday evening we went to a fun dinner at Kobe’s with a group of friends to celebrate before one of our awesome coaches and her husband move away. 😒 Kensie threw her zuchinni on the ground instead of eating it, but she did have some tuna and loved it! She had a blast!

K and her love for eating menus
Stroller, Jungle gym…same thing.

After dinner we all headed to the bar. It was still early so we were those people. With a baby. At a bar.

She loved playing Connect 4…and by playing I mean shaking the tray and throwing the chips everywhere.

K also enjoyed teething on a beer bottle. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚β€‹

Still waiting on the Parents of the Year trophy to be delivered.

Sunday we headed out to Lakeridge Winery for their Annual Grape Stomping Festival!

Of COURSE we had to make the babes special outfits for the event.

Shirts by Bows of Kensington πŸ’πŸΌ
The cutest grape stompers there!
Today was obviously planned, but these 2 are ALWAYS unintentionally twinning!!! πŸ‘―
Kensie, leave Addison’s bow alone!

After the winery we headed to grab food somewhere that the guys could watch the Steelers game. I promise we don’t always bring Kensie to bars. There just happened to be a bar at the restaurant…πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

Mom tip: hang out with your friends that like babies and you’ll get lots of free time. πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚

We opened Kensie a savings account right after she was born. Today she finally picked up a tab. About time.

Another mom tip: pool tables are great entertainment if your baby wants to crawl…at a bar.
Annnndddd she’s done. #namaste

Phew! I’m exhausted from recapping all of that! This weekend was extra fun because Chris has been super busy with long hours at work, and this weekend he got to spend all of his time with us!

K was soaking it all in. She loves her Dada!
Trying to not be slackers with our family photos that we never remember to take!
