Day 80-86

Little miss Elle is 12 weeks today!!! I guess a decent amount has changed in the last week… one being that she can no longer be left unsupervised.

Homegirl was passed out and I went to shower. She was silent when I got out so I assumed she was still asleep and proceeded to get ready. Then, I walked out to this…

Ha!!! She was kicking her legs up and down and about flipped off the couch. πŸ™ˆ (She didn’t…even though I took a photo before rescuing her.)

I seriously don’t know how we got so lucky with such an angel baby…but it makes me terrified to have another. It’s sure to be the terror of the group. 😳

L is so calm and content and LOVES to smile and squeak! placeholder://

She has 2 cries: one when she’s hungry and one when she’s overtired. You can tell the difference because her being tired is the only time she’ll accept a pacifier. She hangs and chats and will put herself to sleep as long as she’s cozy enough.

Leighton also loves the TV and it just may be how we get her to roll from her back to her front. πŸ˜‚

As an update on her name, I’ve been calling her “Leighton love” or “chunk chunk”…hopefully the latter fades before she’s in high school.

#bestlife
Not entertained by my jokes

We’ve still been making our routine weekly visits to the Chiro and I think it plays a huge role in how content L is and how great she sleeps!! (Thank ya Jesus!!!) We really haven’t experienced the “4th trimester” madness like we did with K! (Kensie didn’t start at Chiro until she was 2 months old and screaming her brains out consistently.)

Plus, she clearly loves Dr. C!

As for K…ohhh lawdy. She’s K. πŸ˜‚

The thought of updating you guys on her entire last week is about as exhausting as her energy levels.

Her newest favorite activity request is painting and y’all know her love for Elsa has not faded.

The paper on the floor is for paint, not pee, just to clarify πŸ˜†

This is Kensie’s Elsa balloon.

This is Kensie crying because her balloon got popped by our fan.

Her love was taken to a whole new level because she was invited to an Elsa birthday party and the “real” Elsa came!!!

Every morning since, Kensie has discussed how Elsa is coming over to play. She’s also been requesting that I invite Sven, Olaf and Christoph. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ She even painted them all an individual picture to give them. Now that she thinks they’re real people, the questions won’t end. I’m running out of excuses as to why they can’t come play with her every day. LOL!!! She’s going to be severely disappointed at her birthday party when a reindeer and snowman don’t come through the front door. Hahahahah! πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

These sweet girls and their love for dress up πŸ₯°

Kensie is still loving gymnastics, gets super excited to go, AND participates…so we officially quit dance. I won’t lie, I’m relieved. I thought she’d LOVE dance and I wasn’t cut out to be a dance mom. πŸ˜… hahah!!

And I get way too excited about doing her hair. πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

K becomes a better big sis by the day and has the funnest imagination. She gets so excited when L wakes up (or when she WAKES her up πŸ™„) and loves when L smiles or babbles. Kens will say “mommy! She’s talking to me!!! I’m gonna give her a hug. I kiss her! Awww seeesssterrr!!!” …and my heart melts.

As far as postpartum at 12 weeks, I’m slowly getting back into my fitness groove. Workouts have been such a mental test for me. Of course they’re physical as well and I’m working to build my strength and stamina back; however, for so long I scaled and modified that getting back the mindset of β€œkeep going. Nothing is wrong, you’re just giving up” has been harder than upping the weights!

We did a 35:00 workout last week and, WOOF. I wanted to quit SO badly.

I moved slowly.

I took way longer breaks than I ever do.

I kept giving myself reasons I should probably stop after “x” amount of rounds or 25 or 30 min in…

BUT, I realized it was the scaling mentality I put myself in from being pregnant and that I had no reason to stop other than being a quitter. So, I didn’t quit. And, that was my mom win for the week!!!

You can just enjoy Kensie’s gym craziness of showing her muscles πŸ’ͺ🏼 and shaking her butt πŸ‘, because I rarely remember to take any sort of photos or videos of my workouts. πŸ˜†

(And we have the most amazing people that spoil the mess out of K and play with her at the gym..of course her Emmy is always one of them! ❀️)

Day 74-79

What a weekend we had! I guess I’ll start where I left off…KENSIE LOVED GYMNASTICS!!!

Ready for gymnastics! Or a Magnolia Hand & Hearth ad 😜

Y’all, I almost cried watching her at one point. πŸ˜‚ πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Took me back to the good ole days and it was such an awesome experience watching my daughter enjoy something that I used to love as a little girl, too! I’m sure I sound half crazy saying that but hopefully my mom friends can relate. Haha!

Gotta have post gym snacks πŸ€ͺ

She stood by me the first couple of minutes then slowly ventured out onto the floor. I had to be RIGHT next to her or holding her hand for the next 20ish minutes. Then, she was off on her own and even let coach Christie help her do things. (That’s huge for KB, lol)

So, we will be cancelling dance class. I can’t deal with the trauma. πŸ˜‚ I could go on and on about the joy her loving gymnastics brings me, but I’m sure y’all will hear enough of it in every Friday post moving forward. πŸ˜†

Moving on…we had such a special weekend because Gramps came to town!!!

Leighton and her Great Grandpa!
4 generations! (I’m just taking the photo instead of in it)

…not only did he come but he came with Elsa accessories which is why my child looks…ummm…yeah, like that.

Complete with the Elsa weave. 🀣🀣🀣

It’s hard to get Elsa performances now because as soon as she starts she yells “Alexa! PAUSE! I NEED my Elsa dress!!!” …then follows the 10 minute ordeal to find everything and change and by then she’s forgotten why she even changed in the first place. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

On the bright side she’s been letting me put normal clothes on her sometimes (knock on wood) without a full wrestling and tantrum sesh.

Just rowing with Elsa – but at least she’s not dressed like her! 😜

We’ve been working with Kensie on her manners and using full sentences and this one is GOLD. If Kensie asks for something without saying please we say “how do you ask” and she’ll just say “please??” So, we’ve been having her repeat “May I please have….”

WELLLLL. Chris had his legs up on the ottoman and K wanted to pass by. She goes “move!” And Chris said “how do you ask?” She said “May I please have…MOVE!” I. Lost. It. 🀣🀣🀣 Almost there girlfriend. Allllmost…

Leighton spent the weekend soaking in snuggles, smiling, “talking” and sleeping through the night like a BOSS. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ₯³

I can’t believe this little chunk has been with us for 11 weeks already! (Disclaimer – I just had to count that on a calendar. People keep asking how old she is and I’m like uhhh…2ish months? πŸ™ˆ)

We spent a few hours at the zoo Sunday so Gramps could experience true Florida Hell…I mean heat. πŸ˜…

K was obsessed with the photo booth

And she posed herself for this gem!!!

Kensie loved running around and showing us allll the animals and Leighton loved being strolled and catered to as usual. πŸ˜‰

We’re already missing our Gramps but so thankful for the time we got to spend together this weekend!!!

L’s face πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Day 72-73

Kensie had her first “real” day of dance for the fall season! If you ask her if she had fun, she’ll tell you yes. It’s because she had fun coloring. Not dancing.

I paid for her to color a picture of a giraffe. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
Please note the screen up top. You’d see her there had she gone into the room…

Kensie was SO excited when I picked her up from daycare to go to dance class! She was even pumped to run up to the door and get in the building.

When it came to going into the actual classroom…LAWD help us all. Sista had a melt πŸ‘πŸΌ down πŸ‘πŸΌ! I figured she’d cry but then settle down and participate once I was out of the room for a few minutes. I was wrong. She was so worked up and kept screaming she wanted to leave.

I opened the door back up after a few minutes and got her to calm down and she agreed to go back in if I went with her. She sat on my lap for a few minutes and watched, then told me she wanted to go home. No worries though, because on the way home she told me she wanted to go back to dance class. πŸ™„

She has 2 more chances before we just call it quits and move on…

In other news, Leighton has been changing and growing by the day!! She’s started to scoot her pacifier into her mouth on her own and is sort of warming up to her car seat…

The gym fans put her to sleep every time. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

She still gets fussy in the car but she’s chilled out on the blood curling screams at least!!

L is a champ at putting herself to sleep (knock on wood) and is so content hanging out! She’s constantly smiling and cooing and being the best babe around. I fell asleep yesterday for 30 minutes thinking she was about to take a nap, too. I woke up and homegirl was wide awake, happy as can be just looking around!

Excuse my mom voice…😜 But Leighton is the best calm balance to her sassy almost threenage sister. πŸ˜†

Last night we took a trip to see B and celebrate her birthday!! The girls loved seeing their cousins! Kens ran around and played and L gave B and Lillie sweet snuggles.

Happy birthday, B!
If someone holds her, she will sleep. πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Kensie was wondering why it wasn’t an Elsa party…but the fact that she got cake satisfied her enough 😜

And since I know you’re all wondering, Leighton didn’t let us down…she was sure to have a blowout in her car seat so we could make a solid entrance, complete with an outfit change.

On Friday K starts gymnastics…I’ll hold back my excitement based on our dance experience but this class is “mom and me” until she’s 3, so pray for us. 😁

Day 64-71

I know in my last post I said I wouldn’t go a whole week again…but here we are πŸ˜† We’ve had such a fun, eventful and slightly exhausting week!

Elle is truly a dream baby and growing by the second. She is so happy, snuggly and LOVES HER SLEEP (like her momma).

That little faceeee 😍

She still doesn’t care much for her car seat, but she tolerates it when she has to…especially while I workout, so I’ll count my blessings!!

We tried her play mat for the first time the other day and in true chill baby fashion, she laid, wiggled her legs and stared at herself in the mirror for a solid 20 minutes.

In between eating, sleeping and blowouts, Leighton took her first trip to Disney to celebrate a friend’s birthday!! (Thank you, Sarah!!!)

It’s still weird to me to see photos of us as a family of 4!!! πŸ˜„

Other than a quick nap that she was rudely awaken from by the thumping bass of a show we went to, she stayed awake the entire time and took in allllll the action. πŸ˜†

Meanwhile, Kensie had the night of her life!! Her and Wake were so freaking adorable together and the highlight of the night (and probably her life thus far): SHE GOT TO RIDE FROZEN!

He was SO sweet to her 😭
…and all I could see was what will all too soon be a teenager.

Okay, so the picture may not depict that…πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

The end of the ride has a small drop into the water and Kensie was less than thrilled about it m; however, Chris and I feel it’s the best photo we have of her. 🀣

In all seriousness, I have never seen her face light up like it did while she rode through Frozen (prior to photo above). When she saw the characters on the side she’d grin ear to ear and wave so hard I thought her hand may fly off her wrist.

When she got off the ride, BahBah had bought her a frozen doll. Going on day 6 that she hasn’t put it down. she brings her into my bed in the morning and says “I just love her” while she hugs her. πŸ˜†

She also hasn’t found a new favorite outfit.

This weekend was extra special because HENLEY CAME TO VISIT!!!

Morning hugs on the menu EVERY day πŸ₯°

Ashely and Will came to town so we could celebrate baby McGee #2 and officially send them off to Ohio with one last celebration!

Slumber Party Bonus: only had to get one babysitter to go out to dinner πŸ˜†

Watching HenRo and KB together all weekend was the sweetest thing and even though they have screaming contests at 7am, I already miss them singing baby shark, jumping on the couch and taking turns “taking care” of Leighton. When I picked K up from daycare today she said, “where’s my Henley”? 😭

These girls are the epitome of “attached at the hip”. ❀️

Morning cartoons
Popsicles, bounce houses and pools. Living the dream!

I mean, slumber parties with your bestie is what life is all about!!!!

Leighton loved having Aunt Ashley and the baby whisperer Uncle Will here, too! Elle pretty much had a permanent spot in Will’s arms for the weekend and her 5 hour nap would tell me she didn’t hate it.

Just taking a nap on her future bestie.

I think we’re all just trying to soak in the cuteness (and sweetness) is this babe before she learns to talk like her sister. πŸ˜‚

I remember K in these PJs like it was yesterday!

Kensie is still loving her big sister role and she’s the best “helper” with little L!!

OH, and before we go…I have to share this gem of a product I found online. It’s a changing clutch and I can keep her diapers, wipes, bags and the changing pad all rolled up together! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ Am I the only mom of 2 that didn’t know about this amazingness sooner. πŸ˜†

Day 57-63

WOW I’ve got a lot to update…I’ll try not going a whole week in between posts again. πŸ˜†

This little munchkin is 2 MONTHS OLD!!!

Leighton’s check up went perfectly and she only cried for half a second when she got her shots! She’s officially surpassed her big sis by .4oz and half an inch!

While their size may not be identical, their party poses sure are. 😜

Leighton is the best babe and I STILL credit her routine chiropractor visits for how great (knock on wood) the 4th trimester has been for us as she makes her adjustment into the real world! She’s so happy and content and when she does cry, she’s either hungry or way over tired and it doesn’t last too long. πŸ˜…πŸ€žπŸΌ

…and I credit those visits combined with this new magical swaddle I found for the the fact that Leighton has been sleeping through the night!!!!!

It’s called β€œlove to dream swaddle UP” if any of you guys have babes with similar habits!

A found this swaddle while looking for a size up of her old one and it had the best reviews. I did some research and it seemed like a solid solution for a babe that loves swaddles but also loves their hands by their face. Leighton always breaks her arms out of her swaddles by morning but then she startles and waves them around and wakes herself up. The look of this one threw me off and I wasn’t too confident but damn am I glad I rolled with it!!! The first night we put her in it she was getting fussy because she was tired. I zipped her up and she immediately calmed down. At 9:30p I laid her in the DockATot, she put herself to sleep and woke back up at 7:30a!!! πŸŽ‰

(For my mom friends – it was definitely that first night of not being woken up fear where you immediately run over and check to make sure they’re okay. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this. πŸ˜‚)

While she’s got a great temperament and loves to sleep, LAWD this child has so many bodily fluids that exit all too often. πŸ˜† The blowouts are nothing new (and I’m considering buying the blowout blocker at this rate…). This spit up stuff though…Woof!! People talk about “the never ending laundry” so much with new baby. I did Kensie’s every…2 weeks? She rarely EVER spit up. Now, it’s every 3 days for just burp cloths alone.

Mom life.

Before I get to Kensie…we’ve had a lot of questions on Leighton’s nickname. The answer is: I don’t have an answer. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™ˆ

Originally we talked about using her initials like we do with KB – so, L E , pronounced β€œel-ee”. I just think Elle is a pretty way to spell it…but that’s technically just pronounced “L” sooo there’s that. Haha!

I actually call her Leighton babe (well let’s be honest if she’s fussing, more often than not I actually slip up and call her Kensie) πŸ˜‚

We will just ride it out and see what sticks. I mean, we always intended to call Kensington “Kensie” and now she’s Kens, KB, Kensie Brooke, Bebop, and Elsa. HAHAHAHAHAH

(Notice the dress that she eats, sleeps, and lives in….)

Kensie had her first dentist visit this week and it was a nightmare. I almost cried right along with her. She HATEDDD every second and did NOT want anyone to touch her mouth. She had some real tears rolling down her face and I felt terrible having to hold her hands while they “cleaned” her teeth. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I’m praying she warms up to it and isn’t so traumatized next time.

I guess I shouldn’t say she hated every second, she enjoyed getting 20 random toys after it. Lol

She also had her first day of dance!!!!

Just kidding. She wouldn’t go in the room…

I knew she’d be shy and hesitant but I thought she’d eventually warm up to it after a few minutes. I was wrong. She did have a mild fever when we got home so part of it may have been that she just truly didn’t feel well. She did ask to go to dance class once we got back of course, so we will see how the rest of the season goes. At least she looked the part. πŸ˜‰

Notice she picked out the blue one because, Elsa.

The rest of the week was spent being the best big sis and keeping up with her nightly dance performances. Thankfully she’s added some new ones in the mix so we don’t have to listen to “Let it Go” on repeat.

K was so happy that L wanted to β€œkiss” her!!! Aka suck her face.

L doesn’t actually care about pacifiers much but K is queen of shoving them in her mouth πŸ˜†

And last but not least, like to take a moment to retract my thoughts before becoming a mother about when people would say “my kid won’t wear anything else”. I always thought: uhh, just make them. Don’t let them wear it….duh!

OHH how I have changed my tune. LOL

I realize now it’s not about “letting” it’s about choosing your battles; and more often than not “letting” her wear an Elsa costume, nightgown or blue tutu of whatever variation is a much easier, calmer, faster way to get out of the house than trying to convince her to wear one of the 6 million adorable outfits we buy her. πŸ™„

So for now, I’ll just count my blessings and enjoy dressing up the one that doesn’t have an opinion yet.

You win this battle, Elle!!!
