– Lower Kensie’s Crib because she’s figured out how to pull herself up
– Buy an Amber Teething Necklace if Kensie is cranky again tomorrow
Everyday sure is an adventure with this little one!
K baby was a crankasourous today. Not sure if this clinginess is another phase or (finally) teething, but home girl wouldn’t chill out this morning. She was back and forth between fussing and crying for about 4 hours until she finally took a nap.
And I wasn’t allowed to leave!
When she got up she was in a decent mood so we practiced eating! She had just under an ounce of her puréed food and started spitting it out. I gave her some teething crackers and she played with them but hasn’t quite grasped the concept of swallowing “chunks” yet.
I let crank butt loose in the living room for a minute to clean off her high chair and before I could blink this nugget was in the kitchen in the dog bowl. 🤦🏼♀️
But that face…I felt like K could use a little outing (okay maybe I needed one so I didn’t have to hear this child fuss all afternoon) so we went to the store before I had to coach.
She had her foot chilling off the side the entire time. 😂The gym went very similar to yesterday where Kensie death gripped me if anyone wanted to hold her and I had to coach with her in my arms. She fell asleep toward the end so at least she got another nap in today!
This evening I chatted with a friend of mine who is an Occupational Therapist and she told me when babies learn a new skill a lot of times it’s accompanied by them waking more at night for a little while. We also discussed sleep training and how it worked for her little girl so Chris and I are looking more into it and I think we are going to give it a go! I’m certain we can all agree Kensie doesn’t needmilk in the middle of the night now 😂 and after 8 months, I would love to sleep for more than 3 hour increments.
Pregnancy brain wasn’t a thing for me; however, mom brain is. It’s a real, REAL thing and I have a severe case of it. Pretty sure there are days I’d forget my head if it weren’t attached. I used to be one of those super organized people that never forgot anything and really had my shit together. Kensie, I hope the brain cells I seem to have lost at least found their way to you.
K has woken up at 6am the last 2 days (yeah, NOT a fan) and this morning I had to coach. Kensie was exhausted so she turned into a stage 5 clinger. This was the way I coached both my morning and afternoon classes since those were the ONLY times K baby napped today. This is starting to become quite the workout.
In between classes Kens got to play some while I worked and then we ran a few errands. She had some eye rubs but was happy as could be and had no interest in sleep.
Every time I walk in on her she is under something. Loves riding in her “big girl” seat!
When we got back to the gym, Kens went from a stage 5 clinger to stage 25.
“Mom why are you so far away!?”
Comin in hot! Oh thank goodness. I found you.
Safe to say I got absolutely zero work done.
Someone came up to talk to me and when they looked at Kensie and said hi, she broke down. She got the big bottom lip and everything. 😂 I guess she wasn’t a fan.
Real tears.
Kensie in all her overtiredness (I know that isn’t a word. Just go with it) wanted to be held again while I coached this afternoon. My back was over it so luckily daddy came to the rescue!
She’s got a real rough life
I just realized on days she doesn’t really sleep I have photos of the few times she does and vice versa. I guess I just get really excited for those “rare” moments and I probably need the photos to prove to my mom-brain that that is indeed what happened…
Today is more of a 2 day recap since yesterday was all about K being 8 months old!
We got to visit a special little dude on Tuesday and Kensie wanted to grab him so badly. She hasn’t quite learned what “gentle” means yet.
Hanging out with little Levi!
Today, this child somehow stayed up until 7pm on nothing other than a 20 minute power nap just before lunch. Let me out mom. I’m trying to party!
We had lunch with daddy and I learned my lesson about putting Kensie’s water cup with her in her car seat. Big fat nope. She drinks it and spits it all over the place. Kensie, her onsie, her bow and carseat were all soaked. K didn’t seem too bothered by it…
This is so fun, mama. Best car seat toy ever!
We made a quick outfit change to dry off and of course we had to make sure Kensie had her orange on at CFEO!
K was clapping for orange Wednesdays!
Of all the places in the gym, the only place she didn’t want to be was in baby jail with all her toys. Kens loves to just be put down and explore.
Is it possible to run while crawling? Because that’s what she does.
Kensie was OUT the second I put her in the car seat to head home and had no interest in waking back up. She’s was a sweaty butt so she took her bath half awake and went right to sleep once she ate before we even made it to the crib.
I know most people think staying up all day would cause her to sleep through the night. Nope. Sleep or no sleep, my little chunk will most DEFINITELY wake up to chug some milk at least twice tonight. 🤷🏼♀️ Those thighs don’t make themselves!
I cannot believe my little Kensie Brooke is 8 months old today! This past month there have been so many changes and she’s been so much fun!!
Her bow and monogrammed romper are both from her Etsy Shop! 💁🏼
As you all already know, she spent the beginning of the month crawling backwards and she just started crawling forward last week! Since then, Baby K is on the go. She likes to get into anything that isn’t hers.
What our photo shoot really looked like.
Her favorite thing to do is clap. She sort of waves (it’s a very forceful arm slam, haha!), and loves to get in grunting wars.
Kensie has gotten better at eating puréed foods but isn’t too interested in them. She only REALLY likes zuchinni. The rest she could care less about and after about 1oz of food she’s over it. She loves anything mommy has and sucking on bread or apple slices. K loves watching me sign “eat” and “more” but hasn’t copied me yet!
Anything that isn’t food automatically goes in her mouth, though.
K finally got the hang of her sippy cup and picks it up and drinks her water all on her own!
Kensie’s said things that sound like “Hey” and “mamamamma” but I don’t think they’re intentional yet. She loves to say “Ba ba” and “Oooooooooh!” When she wakes up in the mornings she’s a nonstop chatter box. No matter what she’s saying or doing, she keeps us laughing!
FYI I did take the bag away from her.
One of her favorite things is paper (to tear it and eat…) and the other is water. She loves to splash and bath time is her favorite part of the day!
Kens loves to throw things, especially her pacifier when she’s mad. She also likes the gym and all the attention she gets as long as you don’t leave her alone in baby jail too long.
Kensie hates when you try to hold her still to do pointless things like idk, change her diaper, hold her laying down rock-a-baby style, or take away whatever she used her energy to crawl for- like a dog bone, tv remote or cellphone.
She can spot her momma in a crowd and reaches for me anytime we make eye contact.
Kensie has turned into a belly sleeper and finally likes to be held upright. She’s caught on to her bedtime routine and gives me the sweetest kisses; she’s even learned to close her mouth to an extent. Once she’s had her bath and eaten dinner, K lays her head on my shoulder and puts her pacifier in. We say our prayers, sing our bedtime song (God, Your Mama and Me by Florida Georgia Line; she prefers that over nursery rhymes) and then she puts herself to sleep in her crib!
Our long legged girl is still in 6 month clothes but 9 month PJs and has no teeth, which I’m a fan of considering we’re still breastfeeding.
She’s growing SO quickly and we couldn’t love this little girl anymore!!! Happy 8 months KB. She posed herself for this
And now…time to plan her 1 year party!!! Chris thinks I’m crazy, but judging by how quickly time has already gone by, it’s basically going to be here tomorrow.
Today I’d like to share a video with you all of my child trying to eat the door. Yes, the door. That is not a typo. For those of you that think I’m exaggerating when I say Kensington puts EVERYTHING in her mouth, I promise I’m not.
Aside from trying to keep the door out of her mouth – KB was a dream baby today!!! Last night she slept better than she has in weeks and today Kens was happy from the second she woke up until she went to bed. She was full of smiles and giggles and hugs today and it was the absolute best. Every time I walked into her playroom I was greeted with these huge smiles! Chomping down and still waiting on some teeth to come in!
K is WELL aware she can crawl now so the baby gates came in just in time this weekend!
Amazon for the save. It was mainly to keep the dogs out because they keep eating her toys. 🙄 And Kens really wanted to let them in to play.
We had one little fuss at the gym as I started working out, but Murii picked her up and she stopped immediately (she’s got us all trained). She was over her baby jail and ready for a nap.
Homegirl only woke up to eat twice last night (she’s been waking up 3 times…knock on wood) and went down for both of her naps today shockingly easily.
I have a super cute photo of her passed out but she’s only in a diaper and with all the creeps on the Internet today, I don’t want to post it. I sent it through Snapchat if we are friends on there. 😉
K had a Chiro appointment this morning and is doing great with her crawling, movement and development!
This little wiggle worm made Dr. Christina’s job a bit tougher today!
Kensie was very excited to show Dr. Christina her new skills and even clapped for her adjustment. 😂 Clapping is now her favorite thing to do but it’s getting way more fun because she’s actually starting to do it on demand!!! It’s so cool to see how she’s figuring things out and learning to communicate.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone for the likes on our Facebook page and an extra thanks for those that shared it with their friends!!! If you missed it, you can check it out here! We’ve posted the bow giveaway winners to the page. If you won, please go comment on the bow you’d like so we can get it to you. 🤗
Today was a great Father’s Day for all 3 of us! Father’s Day has always been a day that makes me miss my dad that much more. Now that we have Kensie, this year gave a whole new meaning to Father’s Day and I loved getting to celebrate Chris!
This morning Kensie partied it up and destroyed her whole playroom by 8am. We let daddy sleep in and made him breakfast!
She’s making her grunting sound as she smiled for this photo… Because she needs the only things that aren’t already all over the floor. 🙄 Loves her puppies!
Chris wanted to do some shopping this morning then we had a great afternoon at lunch with awesome friends!
Helping Titi Char with her “juice” K thinks she’s too grown for a high chair. She wasn’t too sure about this strawberry and we ended up with an entire meal on the floor from her throwing things down there. Thanks Kens. Annnnnd when she was pretty much over it she spent the last 30 minutes with her feet kicked up. Classy lady.
Kensie was so good ALL weekend and even took her nap sitting in her car seat while we ate!
K had another milestone for the books today. My 8 month old participated in her first “icing”, courtesy of her dad and Titi Char. 🤦🏼♀️😂 If nothing else, I think Kens will at least grow up knowing how to have a great time!
Kens, it’s rude to ice your mom. This is not what I imagined after 27 hours of labor.
After “lunch” we all headed back to the house and for her final Father’s Day gift, Kensie went straight to bed at 7. We got to spend the evening hanging in the pool and enjoyed steak and lobster for dinner! I’d like to say I cooked it but Chris was our Chef tonight. He enjoys cooking much more than anyone would enjoy eating a steak that I cooked! 🙈
Looking forward to many more days and years of celebrating this guy! Kensie and I are so lucky to have you, Chris!
And a very happy Father’s Day to my dad and step-dad! Dad, I’m still thankful for all the memories I shared with you and miss you every day. Jammie, thank you for being the dad that you didn’t have to be. Love you both!!
((The bow giveaway winners will be posted tomorrow!!))
Today was Kensie’s very first boat day!!! The pictures I’m about to spam you with are only a small portion of my camera roll from today. 😜
Baby in a life vest is pretty much the best thing ever.
We spent the day with some great friends and Kens had a blast. She loved the boat, the sand and the water! I wasn’t too sure of how today would go being a long day in the sun but K was SO happy and loved everything about it!
Sippy cup break with daddy Girl lovessss to splash! Titi Char gave Kens her first toe dip! …and Kens is eating daddy’s hat.
As you all know Kens puts EVERYTHING in her mouth – so I completely expected a mouthful of sand.
She kept picking up the sand and rubbing it through her fingers
We got lucky and while it was all over her face, she surprisingly had no interest in eating it. Phew!
The toys though? Definitely in her mouth.
One thing is for sure: we have a water baby!!! Her bath can always cheer her up and the water today was no different.
Perfect tide for a Kensie sized beach!
I think the only person more excited than Kens was Uncle Rob. He’s been talking about her going on their boat since she was in my belly!!!
Loving Uncle Rob and Titi Char’s boat!! Friends that are family! Tito Char showing her the ropes.
While my FOMO girl tried her best to stay awake, the force finally took over and K baby was OUT.
I think this little boog is ready for many more weekends of boats and water!
Who’s ready for another #FREEBIEFRIDAY? We officially launched our Bows of Kensington Etsy shop today so in celebration, we are giving away 3 free bows! To win:
2. Share it OR tag a friend who likes custom goodies!
On Sunday, we will choose 3 winners to get a FREE BOW!
I keep saying “we” because one of my best friends, Casey, is our crafty bow maker! 🤗
Kensie is our shop assistant. I’ll attempt to keep her slobber off the orders.
Kensie had a rough Friday which meant I had an even rougher one. It started with a 5am wake up. Woof. I got her to doze back off for a little bit around 6 and by 7 it was game time.
Today was the day. She actually realized she can crawl and it’s definitely a whole new adventure now!!
Look mama! I can get into ALL the things! Pre Kensie Bomb Post-Kensie bomb
She likes to keep one leg straight and drag it along. 😂 K also tries to straighten her legs and stand up. She’s ready for some bear crawls!
Kensie lost her ish when I tried to get her to nap this morning. She was so overtired that she cried no matter what. Wouldn’t nap in her chair, crib or being held. Nothing was making this diva happy. I finally turned on Baby Einsteins and sat her down to play again (after 45 minutes of nap attempts) and she started clapping. 🙄
Drama Queen
This afternoon went a little better (after she finally napped) and she got to have an afternoon snack with daddy!
Mmm Apples!
My friend Katie dropped off this amazing baby gate for the gym yesterday and it makes the perfect party area for K!! She had some fun friends this afternoon, too! They called it her “crate”. 😂
Baby Jail
The only smooth part of KBs day was bedtime. When I laid her down she sat up and started playing but I walked away, never heard a fuss, and by the time I was out of the shower she put herself to sleep.
Hopefully she sleeps much better than last night because we have a busy, fun Father’s Day weekend planned!
Welp, today I added another tally under my “work smarter not harder” momming wins: I solved the nearly impossible task that is changing Kensie’s diaper.
The second you set K down on her changing table she immediately arches back, turns to her side, goes upside down onto the top of her head and kicks her feet all over trying to grab anything and everything she can. Imagine wrestling a baby alligator…very similar.
Today I put a (clean, never been used) bulb syringe on the side of her changing table where I knew she could reach it but she had to stretch for it a little bit (because if it seems like she shouldn’t have it it’s that much more appealing to her). Every time I went to change her diaper she’d grab it and lay on her back and play with (eat) it.
Mom – 6 Kensie – 0
Problem solved. For today anyway.
Kensie still hasn’t realized that she knows how to crawl and all the opportunities that present themselves with this ability. I’m very thankful for that lack of knowledge at the moment. 😉
She crawled a few steps to grab a water bottle that wasn’t hers and to get to this medicine ball today.
Because absolutely EVERYTHING has to go in K’s mouth.
Other than her little “scoot” trick, she pretty much stayed in one area today and played with her toys at home!
Kens was great at the gym until right before I was going to workout. That seems to be the magic “nap time” lately. Since I can’t hold her, I’ve found the second best spot for her to sleep.
Her car seat. No joke. Not sure if it’s a familiar thing that’s comforting, if it’s comfy in general, if she thinks it means we are about to leave or what; but, the last 2 days it has calmed her down immediately and she took her nap!
I guess that’s ANOTHER win for mom today!! Sorry about your luck, KB, I’m on a roll!
I got so pumped about Kensie’s crawling yesterday that I completely forgot to share her other new skill with you all. So far, it’s my absolute least favorite trick of hers. She now screams…with her mouth closed. 🤦🏼♀️ So yeah. Super impressive KB.
Kensie went to the playground for the first time today and got to swing!! She LOVED it!
Higher, momma!!! Besties play date! (I made a solid attempt to wipe the swing down first because I knew Kensie would try to eat it…) Love her open mouth smiles!
We met up with Aunt Casey and Harper and Riley for a play date and luckily, the weather held out! I’m pretty sure K would have sat in that swing all day if I let her.
Somehow my child stayed awake pretty much all day, even after a terrible night of sleep. Not sure if it was teething or throwing her off her bedtime schedule last night but homegirl woke up every 90 minutes.
K’s favorite morning sport: annoy Lucy
After a slight “I’m way too overtired” meltdown, I put her in her car seat to nap so I could workout this afternoon.
What can I say? Girl loves her car seat!
Worked like a charm!
I’ve also figured out a trick to get her to eat without sitting up every 3 seconds and getting distracted. Feed RIGHT after a nap. BOOM. She’s still sleepy so she focuses and doesn’t have the energy to keep looking around and clapping for herself yet. Works every time (knock on wood). Except for times like today, where she doesn’t nap.
We got home after the gym and she took her bath, ate, and went right to bed for me…AGAIN! Zero fuss.
Pretty sure the key to this parenting thing is all about the hacks. Work smarter, not harder!
