Day 50: Dancin’ Machine

I’ve been stupid busy this week adjusting to going back to coaching and trying to make it work with K’s schedule (or lack there of) , running errands and getting ready for a gym throwdown and coaches dinner this weekend. This morning the plumber came to replace our leaking faucet so Andrea covered the 9am class for me and I took full advantage of some extra snuggle time with my little girl. I could have been prepping things for the party or addressing our Christmas cards or doing one of the 4 loads of laundry or cleaning the house – but today I just needed some Kensie snuggles.

Morning naps with my sweet little snuggler!

Overall the last few days I think the probiotics and Mylicon have really worked for her! She is rarely fussy during the day anymore and other than her nightly breakdown she always has after her bath, she is back to being my little happy baby! I also think I may have discovered a solution to ending her nightly scream sessions tonight…but I’m going to wait a few more nights to see if it keeps working before I jinx myself. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This afternoon Kensie was watching Megan workout and she felt like everyone needed a little dance party break from lifting…enjoy the sweet moves.

Her afternoon hangout. She’s such a great gym baby when mom has to work!

She must remember all the noise and loud music from the womb…she loves her naps at the gym! (It got cold when the sun went down, hence the blankets)

Day 49: 7 Weeks Old!

Kensie Brooke is 7 weeks old today!

K’s signature look: the side eye.

Pretty sure she’s going through a growth spurt. She slept completely through the night last night, without waking up once to eat! Today she napped most of the day as well.

So peaceful

She was a great shopping buddy while I ran lots of errands to prep for this weekend’s events! I even used my “mommy clip” for the first time. Thing is brilliant.

Hands free and cup holders. Winning!

K was awake most of the time she was at the gym this evening, but she was super happy!

Not sure why she looks so concerned, haha!

When we got home it was a different story. I fed her, gave her her bath – and sure enough she LOST it. When I held her upright she kept sucking on my collar bone. I thought there was no way she could be hungry since I just fed her literally everything in me – but sure enough…I took some milk out of the fridge and she chugged almost 3oz and then was out like a light!

Here’s to hoping she doesn’t grow out of her PJs overnight…

Day 48: The Vacuumย

Kensie spent a lot of time in her mamaroo this morning, which is her happy place in the mornings, but if I was out of her sight for too long she’d start to fuss. So, I made a mom office.

Boom. Problem solved.

I was able to get some stuff done around the house and after her morning nap we ran some errands and then Kensie went to the gym with me this afternoon so I could coach! She was a great little nugget and chilled the whole time in her swing.

Gym life.

She was a happy camper all day until after her bath. When I was about to put her in her PJs she had a meltdown. I turned on the vacuum and sure enough she stopped; however, I guess I didn’t wait long enough because once I turned it off she started back up again. Luckily she calmed down enough to eat and that did the trick because this was the aftermath…

Milk. Drunk.

The Mylicon seems to really be working for her. Other than the one complete breakdown at night some times, she is rarely fussy after she eats now and throughout the day – even when she has gas. WIN!

We went over to Will & Ashley’s for Taco Tuesdays this evening. K was fighting off sleep so she got fussy when I put her in her car seat. I downloaded an app a friend recommended called “sound sleeper” and played the vacuum sound on the way there and sure enough, she slept! ๐Ÿ™„

Once we got there, Uncle Will put her right to sleep while we the rest of us ate.

He refused to put her down…so sweet!

Then she had snuggle time with Aunt Ashley!

She’s basically living the dream.

Nap life FTW

Day 47: K Rolled Over!!!

Today was such a great day for mommy and Baby K! She was the happiest she’s been in a while. I got a ton of work done this morning while she napped and once she woke up, we played and read some books!

My happy girl!
During Tummy time today, KENSIE ROLLED OVER! I so wish I had been videoing it. She was pushing up on both arms like she normally does but was getting a lot higher. I leaned over to grab my phone to send a video to Chris. Next thing I know she shot up with her right arm and threw her head back and there she went! From her belly to her back at 6 weeks and 5 days old.
This is Kensie over tummy time and starting to get mad she’s on her belly! Lol
She was such a great baby today. She barely fussed this morning when she had gas and stopped as soon as she went potty. She started crying on the way to the gym and I thought it was game over. But, after about 2 minutes she stopped on her own and was great while I coached! I did have to feed her a bottle as the class warmed up – but it worked out.

After the gym she got her bath and ate and went to bed for a little in her crib. She woke back up and as she was fighting off going back to sleep she started screaming for the first time all day. Chris turned on the vacuum and she stopped instantly. It’s like a magic trick!

Oh, and a few people asked me today what happened to the tree. I said it fell but I never said how…it did it completely on its own! The dogs weren’t even near it. Just a slow timber.

It’s all better now!

Day 46: Daddy to the Rescue!

What a day!! This morning I finally had some time to decorate our Christmas tree and ran to the store quick before I had to be at a baby shower. In the 15 minutes I was gone, I got this photo sent to me from Chris with a text that said, “well this just happened”:

At first I thought he was referring to Kensie crying; but if you look closer, that empty corner was where the tree used to be…

RIP, my favorite Starbucks ornament from NYC.

I walked in a few minutes later to the sound of the vacuum, Kensie in her mamaroo, and Chris trying to fix the tree. I thought he was vacuuming until I realized he was using it as Kensie’s sound machine.

โ€‹
While it’s on she sleeps. Every time we shut it off she’d wake up. Haha!!

Chris was on daddy duty while I went to a friend’s baby shower. He brought K over to watch football at a her Uncle Rob and Aunt Char’s house and unfortunately she had a huge screaming meltdown while they were there. The good news? Daddy finally got her to settle down!

Showering gorgeous momma, Annie and baby Addison!

The calm before the storm…and still in her PJs.

Once that was over Kensie had a good rest of the evening.

Queen Babysitter, Sam Sam!

We left around 7:30 because Kensie was fighting off sleep hard and it was starting to make her really fussy. Aside from the craziness of being out of town, we are trying to get her into a nighttime routine. Last night she ate, got her bath, and then we rocked her to sleep without a single cry the whole time! I tried to lay her in her crib and she immediately woke up. Daddy rocked her back to sleep and got her to sleep in her crib no problem – and she wasn’t even swaddled (she’s never slept in there without her swaddle).  He definitely won the Kensie battles today!

Day 45

I didn’t get many Kensie photos today because we spent most of the day driving. We went up to the St. Augustine outlets and met my mom to pick her up from her first overnight stay!

While on the way, my little brother sent me a snap chat of her and I didn’t recognize the outfit Kensie was wearing. He had picked out a new one for her and they made sure to get her a matching bow as well. Haha!

I hope I don’t jinx us, but the Mylicon really seems to be working. She still gets fussy throughout the day and has little fits when she has a gas bubble but we haven’t had a screaming outburst since Thursday morning! Woohoo!!!

To top it off, she slept from 11-5:30a, ate for 10 minutes and went back to sleep until 8:30! Thanks for letting me get lots of rest, little boo!!

Day 44: Kensie’s first Slumber Party

Tonight is K’s first night away from us!! Chris was the best man in a wedding in Daytona so Grandma is keeping K overnight.

Killing his Best Man speech
Gramma snuggles!

I soaked in LOTS of extra snuggles this morning because I knew I’d miss my sweet girl – but she’s in good hands!

Sunrise on the beach!

I could put her down and shower…but no thanks.

Tonight was an adventure having to make sure I still pumped, but I made it work!

The beer closet was the only place I could find an outlet…๐Ÿ˜‚

Looking forward to seeing Kens tomorrow – but had a great night with my love!

Day 43: K is 6 weeks!ย

K only had one meltdown this morning and it was over in less than 5 minutes so that was good! It was so nice to wake up to a happy baby instead of a fussy one this morning! Praying it wasn’t just luck and the mylicon is actually working for her.

We had a hectic morning trying to pack up to leave town as I realized I forgot to make arrangements for the dogs. We got it worked out, but that added dropping them off to my to do list. I also went back to coaching this morning. Thank goodness for bows because I threw one on her to pretend like she was wearing clothes instead of still in her PJs.

See? It almost looks like she isn’t wearing her milk covered PJs…

She usually wakes up around 6:30-7a to eat. Go figure this morning she woke up at 6 which meant she’d want to eat again around 9, right when I had to coach. We made it work!

Assistant Coach Kensie

This afternoon we drove up to Daytona for a wedding rehearsal dinner and K spent the evening with her grandma, B. She got to meet her cousins for the first time! B sent me updates throughout the night and after she ate, Kens basically slept basically the whole time.

She’s mastered the “wiggle down”

It was quite the busy day and now we are finally all settled into the the hotel. Here’s to hoping Kensie wants to sleep tonight and sleep in tomorrow because I’m one tired momma!

Day 42: My Little Screamer

What a day! Kensie slept AMAZING last night and was such a sweet cuddle bug this morning. However, once she woke up it was a whole different ball game.

I feel like a lot of times we only see happy baby/kid posts and we don’t share the real nitty gritty of it. I didn’t start this blog to only share the “best” moments but to share the real ones. So, for all the mommas out there that have a baby who’s screamed it out – I’m right there with you! This little girl is amazing and sweet and cuddly and sleeps through the night – but sometimes she is not so happy and she has a SERIOUS set of lungs in her.

So there’s that…

Last week when Kensie had her fussy fits it was in the evening. She wakes up with gas a lot and gets fussy, but this morning was a whole new level. If I wasn’t holding her, she was full out screaming. Once I picked her up it still took a while to settle her down.

I had all these plans of doing laundry, running errands, getting some work done at Starbucks and packing for the weekend – HAHA!! I didn’t even get a coffee today…

โ€‹Eventually I got her to relax for a few minutes and she hung out on the “recliner” I made her while I got some work done.

Once she was over that, we changed her diaper and she finally stopped sweating (from screaming ๐Ÿ™„) so we got her dressed and she took a power nap.

We even got some strength training in while Kensie practiced her push ups on me!

โ€‹

โ€‹
I also made it to the gym today…but my workout wasn’t nearly as impressive as hers.

Things I learned today: running with a stroller is hard.

K just started the probiotics and she’s been taking gas drops but a friend of mine told me she used Mylicon for her baby boy when he had the same gas issues so we are giving that a go! Both times I gave it to her tonight she seemed to be okay after she ate. Fingers crossed!
