Day 294

Well, today Kensie signed the word “eat”, played peek-a-boo by herself, peed on the floor and is gunning for Captain of Team No Sleep! I won’t post the video because she’s naked and there’s too many creeps nowadays – but K was standing by the tub waiting for it to fill for her bath and next thing I know? Puddle. At first I thought the tub was leaking. Then I saw K’s wet leg and foot and I couldn’t stop laughing. Mom. Fail.

Her naps the last 2 days have been off schedule and WAY too short. I feel like she’s so excited for all the things she can do and reach and play with that she doesn’t want to miss a second of opportunity.

Okay Kensington, I get it. πŸ˜³πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Yeah. That’s how her morning nap went.

Kens was a little cranky today and that second tooth is almost through!

Pissed I wouldn’t give her my keys.

…so I gave her my keys.

Lunch was a bust (because she was way over tired and just wanted the milk) but dinner was a success!!! When I sat her down I asked if she wanted to eat and did the sign like I always do. Today, she did it back!! I counted the pieces of turkey I gave her became yesterday I wasn’t too sure how much she really ate. She had 10 pieces and only one left on the tray and one in her lap!

She has to inspect it

I love the mimicking stage because it’s making her sign language much easier to teach.

Kensie had sweet potato chunks for the first time too and was shoveling those babies in! (She’s only had it purΓ©ed before). There’s hope!!! My child may actually start eating real food! Turkey and Sweet Potatoes for the win.

I’m trying to get her in a habit so we did breakfast lunch and dinner today in her high chair and gave it a go. I’m hoping once she recognizes the routine she’ll start eating more before she decides to rip off her bib, shake her head side to side and throw all her food on the floor. She wasn’t interested in the egg yolk but she ate all of her oatmeal at breakfast!

Mrs. Heidi worked on extending Kensie’s float time today at swim so I’m looking forward to seeing how she does with it when she tests next week!

We also found K’s teething egg today and little miss was THRILLED! It must have fallen out of her diaper bag but it was with the pool toys.

Post float reward.

I posted this on my Facebook earlier, but it’s too great to not be documented here as well. When I went to leave for the gym today, K was crawling around the house. I grabbed her and told her we had to go. She looked right at me, said bye, and reached back down for the floor. πŸ˜‚ It may have been coincidence, but it was hilarious anyway. K is such a diva.

Kensie had tons of friends at the gym today. I actually think from the time I put her down to play I didn’t have to pick her up again until it was time to go! I am so thankful for the awesome people that love K and play with her so I can coach and workout! They’re extra awesome for sending me photos for the blog. 😜

Her favorite sippy cup – and she chugged it down!

Just strutin around like she owns the place.

Who needs a walker when you have a ball?

Today’s takeaway?  I shall keep her diaper on until her bath is ready from now on.

Day 293

I feel like KB does something new every day at this age! Today? We got a clear “Byyeee!” WITH a wave at Publix!

She wouldn’t nap and we had zero food at home so we took a trip to the store. Of course Kensie fell asleep in the car – but luckily she was more than happy to wake up and stroll around Publix and talk to EVERYONE we walked by.

Kensie was great the last two weekends but she seems happy to be home! She played in her playroom all by herself while I worked this morning!! No fusses, no climbing up my leg – nothing! Just happy as could be destroying the room.

K is almost done with swim lessons so I went in again with her to practice her float and rollback. She’s got the muscle memory down! Now we are working on getting her to float for longer periods of time and she’ll “test out” next week!

You ready for this, mama?
Vogue

This afternoon Kensie had a friend at the gym for a little bit! Watching the 2 of them together was hilarious. Last time they played, Kensie crawled over and kissed Kalleigh’s face and she wanted nothing to do with her. Kensie kept grabbing her and wouldn’t leave her alone. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Today? Kalleigh returned the favor by kissing Kens, multiple times, and Kensie found it HILARIOUS.

I feel like she wanted approval of what to do πŸ˜‚
Working on the that heisman

Tonight Kensie had “real dinner” for the first time!!! Since I plan to start weaning K from breastfeeding at 1, I’m trying to get her more familiar with table food. Her doctor said since she can “pinch” and swallows puffs fine, she’s past the gag reflex issue. I just have to keep the foods soft (duh) since she has like…half a tooth.

Excuse the dried purΓ©e on her bib…

A friend of mine recommended a website called Wholesome Baby Food and I LOVE it for ideas of what to feed K!! They list foods by age and it’s been extremely helpful for me. They have charts starting at 6 months

Tonight Kens had turkey, cheese and a strawberry! She mostly ate turkey and we got a little cheese in there. She made sour faces at the bites of strawberry she took.

Shoveling that turkey in.

You gotta little something on your chin there, lady.

The only tears we had today were at bedtime. Kens has been so out of her routine that going down in her crib tonight was not a smooth process. I was an awful enabler and let her fall asleep with me so she wouldn’t cry. With how Independent she’s becoming so quickly, I’m secretly trying to soak in all the snuggles I can get while I still can!

Day 290-292

What a weekend KB had! Little miss is standing on her own for 5-10 seconds at a time (and not even wobbling), mimicking movements, perfected her wave and has a newfound love for turkey and…pickles?!

Aunt Kris and Gramps took over Kensie duty while Chris and I went to the CrossFit games on Saturday and Sunday and I think all 3 of them loved it!

I was sent this photo with a text that said “cocktails by the pool” πŸ˜‚
Who needs Sophie when there’s remotes?
Great Gramps gives the best snuggles!
K mean mugging the selfie with Aunt Kris!
She had no issues eating…shocker

K got to swing her little heart out, went on lunch dates (where Aunt Kris discovered her liking for pickles), crawled up the stairs countless times and shared tons of giggles and kisses.

And buying a swing is on my to do list for tomorrow.

Kensie’s second bottom tooth started to break through this weekend so I was a little worried she’d be cranky but they said she was happy as could be while we were gone! She went down in the pack n play each night but by the time I got home it was game over. I think she has a 6th sense and it’s a momma detector. After that – she’d only sleep in bed with me. At least she slept. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

So glad Kensie got to spend some quality time with her Great Grandpa and Aunt (and that they got to spend time with her)!

As we waited to board our flight home we used Kensie as our entertainment.

Aunt Emmy downloaded a movie for KB…MVP!

The flight home was pretty similar to the flight there…but with some extra hands and a much longer nap!

One of K’s favorites…
Peek-a-boo!

She was a happy girl but she stayed awake until the last 45ish minutes. FOMO girl fought it hard but finally let her eyelids give into gravity at the end.

She woke up just before we landed and gave everyone some entertainment as we waited to get off the flight.

Safe to say KB is not shy.

Looking forward to settling in back at home and having little boog back in her crib after a crazy 2 weeks of travel but we miss vacation and family already!

Day 289

I know I’ve called KB a stage five clinger a few times before – but there’s not even a TERM for the level she was on last night!

Kensie had a fun day with family and Chris and I even got to sneak away to drop in to a local box for a workout! I came back to this…

Snuggles for Mikayla! (She also things we look alike because she dives down for milk πŸ˜‚)

My Aunt Kris and cousin Mikayla watched her for us while we were gone and Kensie had a blast and no tears! She’s been quite the smiley babe this weekend. K has been taking in all the “northern” scenery and became an instant pro at climbing stairs.

I also found something Kensie seems to like as much as zuchinni…turkey!!! I shared some off my sandwich with her at lunch and she kept wanting more. We also have her a pancake. She enjoyed shaking it and tearing it apart…

I have no words to describe the “momma” level Kens was on last night. She WOULD NOT sleep unless I was touching her. She would be snoring, limp and completely out; but the second I laid her in the pack and play or tried to get up, she’d shoot up onto all fours, sit up and scream.

She was extremely overtired when she went to bed so maybe it’s the new place and new faces but I slept the entire night with Kensington literally on top of me.

Good thing she’s so damn cute!!!!

Day 288

Holy. WIGGLE WORM. Safe to say Kensie’s 3rd flight didn’t go as smooth as the first 2. (But I did actually FREEZE the ice packs this time…so no drama at security!)

So pumped we got our milk through πŸ˜‰

A storm hit right before take off so we had to wait on the runway..by the time we took off we had been sitting on the plane for an hour.

Free me!

The engine was all KB needed. She did some weird whine, flail, throw her body move and went to sleep face down in my lap with her butt in the air. Chris tried to take a photo but apparently it didn’t save. πŸ˜ͺ

I did learn a valuable Southwest lesson today…always sit by the window and the aisle. I sat by Chris thinking no one would come sit by a baby. Who does that?

Well, the dude that sat by us does. That’s who. There were plenty of other seats open but they were in the middle of people. I wanted to ask him to move because we were crammed enough as it was, but he chose his fate. Kensie tried to take his pillow and phone at least 4 times and smacked his arm a solid 6. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I had an epic mom fail and tried to move Kensie so I could reach my wallet because…beer. (Chris was asleep). Never. Again. Kens woke up, wanted to eat, then didn’t go back to sleep the rest of the flight. Somehow KB made it all the way to bedtime with only a 10 minute nap.

She loved looking out the window with daddy!

Considering the circumstances, she did great. It helped that we had extremely kind people around us and they all commented that she was “so well behaved”. I felt like she fussed a lot and wouldn’t stop moving…but I guess that’s pretty impressive for a 9 month old stuck in 12 square feet for 4 hours.

The good news? WE MADE IT! We came to Wisconsin to visit family and go to the CrossFit Games! They conveniently moved them to Madison this year so it’s a win win for us!

Kensie and Great Gramps!

Aunt Kris bought her a swing! Spoiled? 😜

I think it’s safe to assume she approves!

Day 287

Kensington was Miss Independent today! I was totally okay with it because it meant I could get everything done with zero fuss interruptions!

I had to coach this morning and go figure it was the one time Kensie was still asleep at 7:15…

Luckily she’s a happy morning baby so she was okay with the wake up and she loved the morning play sesh at the gym!

Kensie is almost done with her swim sessions so today I got in the pool with her so Mrs. Heidi could teach me the different cues and things to look for so we can keep practicing until next season!

She gave me a round of applause for my first day πŸ˜‰

This evening it was back to the gym to coach and workout and I was shocked at how long KB played by herself in her baby jail!!! She used to get really frustrated when she stood up and no one came to get her. Now that she knows how to sit back down she seems to tolerate it a lot longer!

When we got home daddy ran out to get us some dinner so I let Kens stay up to wait for him to say goodnight. Everytime I let her “play” in her room she goes straight to the closet. Sorry about your luck, Chris. 😏

Thanks for the mess KB.

Kens loves to “go through” her clothes πŸ˜‰

While KB played peacefully in her playroom last night I got most of our packing done!

Hoping for a smooth flight, a sleeping baby and excited for a fun trip either way!

Day 286

In general our day was pretty uneventful since K was stuck at home with me while I slowly wither away from this sinus infection. (Y’all see where she gets her dramatics from?)

We did have her 9 month check up today and KB is healthy as can be!

Oh yeah! Clap it up girlfriend.

I already did her 9 month post on her actual 9 months…so I’ll spare you the recap.

I would like to point out, however, that my “super accurate stand on the scale with and without her” method worked pretty dang well! I got 18.2 and the doctor’s scale weighed her in at 18.1lb today! Her weight puts her in the 45th percentile and her length of 26.5 inches puts her in the 9th for height. 😳 I feel like her leg had to have been bent when the nurse measured her…lol

Kensie is right on track with her social skills and a little ahead on her motor skills. (Lucky me πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ) We also got the clearance to start adding more “whole” food to her diet since the one tooth wonder doesn’t care for purΓ©es.

Other than that we have a sweet, happy, wiggle worm of a girl!

Speaking of wiggle worm, Kensie is taking her 3rd flight this week and I’m sitting here wondering why I was ever concerned at 4 months. She wasn’t mobile at that point and slept to make my life easy. I imagine this flight will involve my child wanting to crawl up and down the aisles and her “talking” aka grunting, fake coughing and squealing at everyone around us. I am currently praying for understanding neighbors.

Example A: this was Kensie as we waited (in her defense it was WAY to long of a wait even for me…and I’m grown, sort of) at the doctor’s office today.

Oh mom, look! It’s my favorite!

I’m getting her a paper roll for her birthday.

She also discovered how to unroll it and get more. See what I mean on “ahead on her motor skills”? 😳

She did sit still in the waiting room for the most part. After the first 30 minutes she wanted to crawl around but no way I was letting her touch that carpet. 🀒

Sweet lap baby! (Sometimes)

We skipped the gym this evening because like I said earlier, I’m dying. Kensie must have known because she was a champ at playing by herself this afternoon and the sweetest baby ever right before bed.

I got a hug, a kiss, and after she ate she literally rolled off my legs, grabbed her pacifier and went to sleep.

Is this real life?! I’m in heaven.

And now I’m going to join Kens for an early night to bed so I can kick this infection and find the energy to pack tomorrow!

Day 282-285

Kensie can’t exactly speak for herself but I’m pretty sure she had a great weekend with Gramma!!!! I did ask her if there was anything she wanted to add to her post today but she just had a fake laugh in response.

This wasn’t a fake smile, though!
When I picked her up this morning, I got some sweet hugs, she dove straight for the boob and then she even reached back for Gramma before we left!

I probably don’t want to see my phone bill but I did FaceTime little boo as soon as we got to port both days and got updates through the cutest photos ever!

Kensie spent part of the weekend at her Uncle’s swim championships and was their best cheerleader!

The cutest upside down kisses for Gramma!
Go Uncle William and Uncle Matthew!!!
THOSE LONG LEGS!!! 😳😍
Traveling without her is so hard because I constantly feel like I’m missing/forgot something. I don’t drop her off at daycare or anything so she’s literally ALWAYS with me. Even an empty car freaks me out.  I keep waiting for my home alone moment. “KEVIIINNN” πŸ˜‚ (Anybody with me?)

Helping Gramma organize her office
Someone started TAKING STEPS THIS WEEKEND!!

I slept 7.5 hours straight for the first time in over 9 months this weekend! I also took a 3 hour nap yesterday and it was glorious. I used to have a love hate relationship with naps because while they feel great, I hate the groggy feeling when you wake up. Being a mom changes that. I’m now a pro at naps and waking up ready to go. It’s basically a normal nights sleep for me. πŸ˜‚ All the sleeping must have freaked my body out because now I’m crushing some antibiotics to get rid of an awesome sinus infection.

So thankful for my mom taking such great care of our sweet girl so we could have a weekend away with friends! (WHILE she was teething. Such a brave soul…) Oh! And we have one tooth through and the 2nd one coming!

I think this is one of my favorite photos…ever. Kens sure does love her Gramma!!!

While I loved the sleep and being able to relax and have some “non momming” time, (except for the dreaded pumping) nothing beats playing and snuggles with this little one!!! I’ll take the poopy diapers and midnight wake ups any day.
