Kensie is still stuffy and coughing but you wouldn’t know it. She was so happy today and the BEST baby. Absolutely zero tears were shed!
Best kissin’ cheeks!
Kensie rocked her new romper from Uncle Rob to church and then went to brunch. She giggled and chatted and loved the company!
This afternoon K took the best nap for me!! I was able to get all of the dishes washed and laundry folded and still squeeze in a 30 minute nap before we had to get ready! Kensie had to do an outfit change to rep the Patriots for Sam Sam.
She loves watching football! Sam taught her all about the Patriots and Brady!
Kens wanted to stay awake for Lady Gaga since her mama taught her we watch the Super Bowl for the commercials and half time show, but she couldn’t quite hang.
And the true highlight of the day – Ashley got me dairy-free ice cream so I could have super bowl dessert with everyone!
Not even being biased. This little girl is too damn cute.
No need to crawl first.
Kens had quite the Saturday! We had a long, fun morning at the gym hosting a fundraiser for our good friend who is currently in the hospital. Considering she was there for 4 hours and it was over her nap time and she only slept about 30 minutes, she was so good!
#PrayforPat
When we got home she went down for a nap and Chris stayed with her while I went to get my nails done. Of course 10 minutes after I left she woke up screaming and had a meltdown the whole time I was gone. Poor thing was so overtired and off her schedule. When I got home she finally took a nap.
We went straight to the PJs this afternoon.
We had an impromptu date night out with some friends and Sam Sam came over to babysit K! When I woke her up from her nap she was extremely fussy so I almost cancelled. Sam was up for the challenge so we decided to go.
I got her to sleep before I left and crossed my fingers for no meltdowns while we were gone. Then I got these snapchats…
Phew!!! She was so good and it was awesome to have a dinner out with some friends without worrying about her.
Officially hired!
So…that nose sucker that freaks me out that I posted about a while back…yeah. I had to resort to it today. The battery powered one I paid $35 for does absolutely NOTHING.
Kensie has a stuffy nose and the pediatrician said to suction it to keep it from getting to her lungs so she doesn’t get sick. The bulb syringes don’t work at all (I’ve tried 3…) and a friend told me this one will actually get it out from higher up. I guess what they say about doing anything for your kids is true, because I did it. It really wasn’t that bad and it actually got her snot out! It freaks K out though and she does this little panicky flail that’s kind of pathetic but also cute.
Kensington was a little gassy girl today!! I’ve been trying to get back on track with my eating but her tummy just does not agree with the fats and low carb!
During her morning nap she started crying while still asleep and woke herself up and it escalated from there. I picked her up and she had gas. She was happy on her belly for a little but it didn’t last.
I decided to give her a bath and she was a super happy girl after that!! She sat in the water and relaxed and I gave her a tummy massage to help with the gas bubbles.
Poor nugget
Once that was over, she had a great rest of the day. I’m fighting a cold and have been pretty congested all week. Luckily K gets immunities from breastfeeding but she did start coughing today. I spoke with the pediatrician and she told me to suction her nose 3 times a day to keep it out of her lungs and we should be okay.
We went to visit a friend in the hospital, ran an errand and then went up to the gym in the afternoon. She slept every time she was in the car and went straight to sleep after I put on her PJs and fed her. Praying she doesn’t wake up with a stuffy nose!!
The spit up stain adds character, Yeah?
Oh, and I loved the suggestion of giving her a teething toy to avoid the finger sucking so I tried that today. She wasn’t interested in it (I don’t think she is teething, I just want to distract her so she doesn’t learn to suck her thumb!) but I’m going to keep at it!
Any advice on how to keep this child’s hands OUT OF HER MOUTH?! My lanta. She’s always occasionally sucked on her fingers but not for long. Today she wouldn’t keep them out of her mouth! Normally if she’s tired and her pacifier falls out she fusses. Today she shoved it out and stuck her fingers in and was happy as could be. I just don’t want her to start sucking her thumb because I can’t take that away eventually. Ah!!!
Anyways, K was my little trooper today! We had to coach a morning class, go back for a meeting, coach an afternoon class then go back again tonight for an event. Phew!
Wore this little one out! She passed out as I was burping her.
The morning was eventful. My class was setting up for the WOD and I was holding Kensie. I felt her fart and told them and we all laughed. Then I went to set her down…and yeah…it was a lot more than a fart! Jokes on me!
We’ve got a situation…
It was gorgeous out today so Kens watched them workout this afternoon and took a little nap outside!
Oh hey there, Ellie!
Along with eating her hands, Kensington has decided it’s really fun to talk and smile in the middle of eating. She’s always been a quick eater but recently it’s been eat some, give big smiles, eat some more, chat, then continue eating. Focus, little lady!!
Kensie went to the chiro this morning and I am hoping it keeps her from getting this head cold that I seem to have gotten!
Always eating those hands.
Fun fact: they’ve done studies/blood work and it’s been shown that an adjustment improves your immune system by 50%! Dr. Christina also did a little work on my face/sinuses and it felt amazing. I could immediately breathe afterward.
Even though K’s schedule was kind of all over today and she didn’t get her normal naps in – she was a sweetheart and happy as can be. This was also a relief since I forgot her medicine last night. I’m hoping after her next doctor appointment we can take her off it completely.
Love when this little one wakes up all smiles!
Kensie wore her orange bow today because at CFEO, on Wednesdays we wear orange! She loved talking to Emily today and everytime she walked by and said hey to Kens she got a huge smile! Emily must have had to magic touch today – and by magic I mean she spit up on her before class and then when she was talking to her in her swing she did it again.
I happened to be taking her photo at the most perfect moment…
Look closely for the spit up.
The swaddle worked okay last night but she didn’t sleep any longer than usual so I didn’t bother with it tonight. She seems just as peaceful in her chair with her paci and a blanket!
I love mornings with miss Kensie Brooke because after I feed her she is extra snuggly and goes back to sleep. This morning Jack had to pee…and okay I did too, so I had to trick K in order to get out of bed without waking her up. It took very slow, calculated movements and replacing my body with pillows but it was a success! (No lecture needed. She wasn’t by herself for more than 60 seconds…)
Snuggle butt
Speaking of butts, the diaper you can see through her PJs are the Honest brand. They. Are. The. JAM! *Insert product plug here*
The only diapers that K used to be able to wear without getting a rash were Pampers Sensitive. A friend gifted us a box of Honest diapers (because they had feathers on them and it matched her nursery. You know, the important stuff.) and I looked at the box and it said it was all natural. I figured I’d give them a try. Not only are they adorable and don’t give her rashes but they DON’T LEAK!!! I’m not sure that leak is really the word, but if she pees more than once before her diaper is changed, the Pampers don’t hold it in well at all and you can tell she’s wet because her clothes get damp. These hold in pee overnight with no dampened clothing! Whoo!!!
K only cried once today and as she was crying she was farting (classy) so I put her on her belly and it’s the only thing that calmed her down!
And she’s rocking her flamingo head wrap today!
This munchkin hates tummy time but she was extra happy after her bath tonight so I gave it a go! It lasted maybe 30 seconds before she fussed. She is great at pushing up and kicking her legs, though!
K can’t roll from her back to her tummy yet, so she just flips to her left side and kicks her feet around.
I set her in her chair so I could make dinner quick and she looked around but still hasn’t touched any of the toys. I guess she is still a little young for it but she does enjoy sitting up like a big girl.
Her hands are way more entertaining…
I put her in her swaddle sack tonight and it seems to be working really well! She got pissed when I tried to put her arms in it so I left those out, but she fell asleep in less than 10 minutes and so far she’s been less of a wiggle worm tonight.
Kensie has been on an awesome schedule this week with her eating. I’ve noticed I always try to feed her every 3 hours but sometimes she will nap longer than that and in the middle of the day she goes about 4 hours without seeming hungry. The last 2 days it’s worked great! I’ve been able to feed her before the gym and not have to give her a bottle while we are there.
This girl is just like her momma – loves her sleep! (Thank you sweet baby Jesus)
The bad side to that is I brought a bottle in case… and then had the devastating experience of pouring perfectly good breastmilk down the drain because I forgot to put it back in the fridge when we got home.
Oh damn. The other bad side to that is I didn’t give her her medicine because I’m used to giving it to her with her bottle. (And I just realized it as I’m typing this post). Umm. Wish me luck tomorrow…
