Day 201

It always feels good to come home after a nice vacation…but it feels even better when you get this little face to go along with it!! I missed my Kensie butt so so much!

I think she missed her momma too, because I got lots and lots and LOTS of sweet snuggles and smiles all day long.

After some morning snuggles, Kens and I went to pick up Jack from the farm. They must have missed each other, too! K took an extra long nap while I unpacked and Jack wouldn’t leave her side.

Once she got up, Kensie wanted to show me all her new tricks.

She now turns from sitting to her belly and is starting to army scoot to get what she wants. I think we are going to have a crawler in the next month!!

For lunch Kens got to try fruit for the first time!!! Homegirl LOVED it. She ate all her carrots so I gave her some apples…her eyes lit up!

She’s getting so good at eating and is actually swallowing her food now instead of drooling it out!

We ran to the store to pick up some things – and of course I forgot the main thing I went there to get. Mom brain. It’s okay though, Kensie made about 6 new friends by cheesin it up HARD when they told her she was cute.

She loves riding in her Binxy baby and feeling like she’s part of the action!!

Chris and I are both running on 3ish hours of off and on airplane “sleep”, but I didn’t even notice how tired I was because I was so excited to hang out with Kens! However, she’s now in bed and I am well aware of how tired I am…I think the whole house (pups included) will sleep well tonight!

Day 198-200

As I sit at the airport anxiously awaiting getting home to our sweet Kensington, I figured it was the perfect time to post about her weekend! (And ours 😜) This post is basically the online equivalent of a picture book…

Kens had tons of fun with B!! We got lots of updates and adorable photos of K with all smiles…and some outfits I didn’t send her with. This girl is so spoiled with love!

Slumber party with cousin Mattie!
Party ready with B and Papa John
This just melts my heart!
Kens with her cousins and Aunt Sarah on her birthday!
Snuggling with Uncle Matt at her cousins soccer game
My favorite little ham!!
Reading with Papa John
Playtime with cousins Mattie and Allie!

I think it’s safe to assume Kens enjoyed herself!! While we missed her very much, we also know it’s important to get some “us” time. I tried my very best to relax and enjoy our time in Wine Country!

Pretty impossible not to enjoy ourselves with views like this!

Saulsilito
A little cruising on the PCH!
Hog Island Oysters in Point Reyes
Landmark Vineyards – my favorite!!

People frequently comment on how busy we are and how we are always doing something. They aren’t wrong. Our life is very “go, go, go!” While it can get exhausting, for us it’s living. The experiences are what life is all about for us!

We were lucky enough to take this trip through Chris’ work with a group of awesome people that showed us a whole new side to Napa that we hadn’t experienced before!

We already have plans for annual family trips and can’t wait to make more memories as Kensie grows.

As she grows, I also imagine traveling (with and without her) will get a little easier. Holy pumping this weekend. I’ve now pumped on a plane, in a winery, in many vehicles and an airport. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Pump life.

The good news is we found dry ice, got through security with no issues, and 15 hours later – my milk is all still completely frozen!!!

Because, priorities.

TJ Maxx cooler bag = WIN

And now…I’m going to finish watching scandal and pray I can fall asleep once we board our flight.

Our regularly scheduled Kensie posts will resume tomorrow. πŸ€—

Day 197

So, I definitely cried today. And it wasn’t because they made me throw all my ice packs out at security. πŸ™„

I had a fun morning playing with Kens and in typical KB fashion, she fought her nap off. You know, just so I wouldn’t forget what it’s like to listen to her whine.

Yeah Kens, that’s not napping.

We had a quick lunch with Aunt Casey, a trip to target, and lots and lots of snuggles.

Oh, and she ate peas. A lot of them. Like devoured them. Girl likes her greens!!

Pineapples make Kens smile.
Her favorite toy is…the top of her toy.
Okay so you’re not tired but you pick up your pacifier and put it in to play? Alrighty then…

B came to pick up Miss Kens after lunch so I could head to the airport. You’d think I’d get to relax, right? Nah. Chaos ensued. I’ll spare you guys the details because the moral of the story is I should have left earlier.

I know Kens, I should’ve just packed you. πŸ˜‰

I got a perfect sized bag/cooler to carry on to bring my milk back home and bought all these awesome, flat ice packs for it. I researched and found out I could bring it all as a carry on. Boom, go me.

So – I didn’t freeze them becauseI didn’t   need them cold until the way home. Well, the genius in me didn’t think about the fact that they would be considered liquid if they weren’t frozen and they’d throw them all out when I went through security. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈLesson learned.

The other lesson I learned was don’t put your back up batteries in your checked luggage. The battery adapter I got for my pump died 5 minutes into pumping in the bathroom on my first flight. SUPER. Luckily, my next flight I ended up with a vacant middle seat in my row and a plug right there. Better believe I put my bag next to me and pumped in my seat.

Momming so hard.

Of course my flight had a cute 10 month old right behind me the whole time. Fighting her sleep and whining, just like good ole Kens would do. I was totally okay with it. I thought about asking to rock her to sleep, then I realized that would be as creepy as it sounds. πŸ˜‚

Anyways – this blog is about Kensie, so back to her. She had a great afternoon with B and was soothing herself to sleep when I checked on her during my layover.

Looking forward to a fun relaxing weekend with my love and some friends…but I’m surely going to miss the heck out of my sweet little Kens!!! KB – I already can’t wait to snuggle your face off on Monday!

Day 196

Woof. Being a mom means vacations are just a lot of work. I already need a vacation from my vacation to unwind from preparing for it!

Kens must’ve known what was ahead today because she definitely made sure to get her beauty rest in. We dropped Chris off at the airport at 4am; Kensie wasn’t phased.

When we got home she slept some more.

Then we were cuddling so I didn’t want to get up, but I had to go to the gym to coach. I thought for sure me getting up would wake her. Wrong. So wrong!

Bye mom.

And the best part of all…K STAYED ASLEEP WHEN I MOVED HER TO THE CHANGING TABLE. πŸ˜‚

Is this real life?

I guess all I can say is thank God for a baby who loves sleep as much as I do!

My little goober was awesome this morning. She played all by herself while I cleaned the floors and then wanted to help me coach. When I tried to put her back in her play pen, she stiff legged me. Kensie refused to bend in half and sit down. πŸ™„

Kens was such a great babe while I got errands done this morning! She had many conversations with everyone in the stores (oh boy…) but at least she was happy!

We weren’t home for long today but Kens got in some quality time with her favorite puppy.

The afternoon was a whole new story. I wasn’t allowed to put her down. The second I did, we got real tears almost immediately.

Not too sure what her deal was – but baby wearing was the only solution!

She must have just needed some extra momma time. Kens also got extra momma time tonight since it took over a hour to get her little butt to SLEEP. Never been a more appropriate time for the “Go the f*@k to sleep” baby book. πŸ™„

(If you don’t know what I’m talking about, watch this. It’s hilarious: https://youtu.be/U08XWOx3XYM )

Anyways. It’s like she knew I had hours of cleaning and packing ahead of me and as much as I wanted to enjoy some extra time with her, wrestling a baby alligator for an hour wasn’t exactly what I had in mind.

On a positive note – I think I’m pretty much done packing. Let’s just hope security lets me go through with 10lb of ice packs. 😳

Day 195

Kensie Brooke was such a sweetheart today!

She woke up so happy and chilled in bed while we had our morning chat. When I say chilled I mean she was straight up, feet crossed and reclining. πŸ˜‚ She was cracking me up with how she was laying and mid talking, she picked up her pacifier and shoved it in.

Okay Miss Thing

Kens played and played and played this morning! She finally laid down on her mat so I figured I’d see if she’d nap. It was a complete failure as you can see…

And she’s naked because she pooped up her PJs while she was sitting down playing.

She also pooped 3x within an hour so we just went straight to the diaper.

I was all over the place this morning trying to get laundry, work and some packing done. Luckily, Kens was so good and entertained herself. She also took a long afternoon nap. However, I still didn’t manage to finish my coffee after reheating it 3 separate times.

Coffee made at 9am…photo taken at 10pm

Mom life. I don’t understand why we don’t grow 2 extra arms at the same time we grow a baby! Lord knows we need them.

Preach.

Day 194

This post got put off last night since Chris and I were celebrating our 2 year anniversary! And by celebrating I mean getting home from the gym at 8:45, putting Kens in bed at 9, and eating Mindful Meals while drinking champagne from a wine glass.

Fancy, we know.

Kensie made up for sleeping until 8:20 on Sunday by waking up at 6:45am today and proceeding to completely exhaust me. (However, she REACHED FOR ME FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY! So it was worth it. ;))

K baby had a LOT to say. All. Day. Long.

I had a nail date with Ashley and at that point, Kens had been up for 4 hours with no nap. She didn’t care. She talked the ENTIRE time we were in there. And by talk I mean half yelled, half pterodactyl screamed the whole time.

She continued her conversation with herself at lunch with Daddy and wanted to be part of the action.

She must have been excited because he brought us both flowers!

Bouquet for me and a sweet rose for K!

After lunch K talked about half of the ride home then FINALLY fell asleep.
5 minutes of peace and quiet

When we got to the gym Kens became a stage 5 clinger. She wanted nothing but to be held. The. Whole. Time. And seeing as I was there for 4 hours, that’s a lot of holding. I put her in the playpen so I could workout and after about 5 minutes she started screaming bloody murder. Good thing the music was loud enough that most people couldn’t hear her. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I always heard people say “when mom’s are with the baby all day dad walks through the door and you just want to hand them over and run”. I’ve honestly never felt that way…until today. Chris walking in was like the heavens opening up. “TAKE HER! PLEASSSEEE TAKE HER!”

I was supposed to complete rowing intervals after my workout. I didn’t want to do them. But I did them just so I could hand Kensie off and have 10 minutes of sanity. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

On an AWESOME note though, KENSIE REACHED FOR ME FOR THE FIRST TIME! I was exhausted and I’ll admit a little annoyed that she wouldn’t just play for a little while so I could coach. When she started yelling at one point I walked over and she reached up for me!! She’s sort of lifted her arms for a while but not really “reached”. Today, she did! And when Rob walked over, she leaned over and reached out for him! It was the sweetest thing ever.

Just when I started to think “this vacay might actually be a nice break after today” she does something like that and completely melts my heart and makes me not want to leave all over again. πŸ˜ͺ

Day 193

Kensie is quickly becoming a pro at Sunday Funday. Baby on the table is totally appropriate, right?

Brunch so hard

K slept until 8:20am! We were late to church, but it also meant she was ready to play in the nursery instead of cry for nap time. Woohoo! We had no tears and I picked up a happy baby for the first time. Progress.

I spent part of the weekend getting ready for our trip. I might have gone a little overboard with the color coordination but I had to make sure the chunk had enough milk. πŸ™ˆ

I may or may not be extremely anxious about leaving her and flying to the opposite side of the country. πŸ˜ͺ

Anyways, Kens got in a good afternoon nap at Aunt Ashley and Uncle Wills house and then Titi Char babysat Kens while we went out for our anniversary dinner!

Vacay shopping with mom is exhausting

We tried out “Better than Sex” after dinner and it did not disappoint my sweet tooth!

Dessert Drinks 😍 Chocolate is life.

Char won MVP today – because we came home to a quiet, sleeping baby in her crib. Best anniversary gift ever!
