The sweetest chunker is 8 months old! …though sheβs starting to lose her chunk π°
I’m having serious mixed feelings as she keeps inching toward the 1 year mark. I LOVE seeing her personality come out and watching her grow but where did my tiny little baby go?!
Leighton loves to clap, wave at everyone, smile and TALK. She’s found her voice and she’s definitely going to give K a run for her money.
She’s adding a knee bend to her army crawl but still hasn’t quite put the pieces together – and I’m in NO rush for her to figure it out!
She’s enjoying trying new foods though she’s perfected her stank face when I give her peas. π I can’t blame her. π€’ Her favorite activities include kicking her legs, grunting, staring at herself, and taking the nursing cover off when I feed her in public. π€¦πΌββοΈ
And of course we can’t leave out big sis.
Kensie is…Kensie. π Our ever so dramatic, hilarious source of constant entertainment.
Just getting ready for daycare…π€·πΌββοΈHer βphoto faceβ π
Kensie has had a fun week with friends, her B, being her usual diva self, and occasionally humoring me with a smile.
Her new favorite tutu. At least this week.
Iβd like to take this time to give a huge shout out to my man, Santa Claus and whoever recently taught K about the tooth fairy.
K asks for every toy she sees and I keep telling her no and her newest response is βokay, then can I ask Santa?β I say “of course” and she goes “THANK YOU MOMMY!”, usually accompanied with a hug – Discussion over.
The only way this will backfire is if she remembers all 365 days of her requests in December. π
(Side note: she’s gonna rock a runway one of these days…π³π)
Kens has also been telling everyone her teeth are growing and about to fall out. π€
She has 2 friends at daycare that lost teeth so itβs her new fascination. She told me and Chris sheβs going to put her tooth under her pillow (as she yanks on her front 2 teeth π€¦πΌββοΈ) and the tooth fairy is going to come bring her a coin. A COIN?! YASSS. Seriously. Whoever told her that. I appreciate you. Quarters for daysssss. ππΌππΌ
These girls sure keep us on our toes but they also keep my heart so full. π₯°
Just a photo of her looking innocent before I show her true identity.
I read an article last night that couldnβt have come at a more perfect time. While Kensie was repetitively yelling βMommy! Come here! Mommy! Mommy!β at 10:48p last night I scroll and see βParenting a Spirited Kid will Test You in Every Way”
Other terms and phrases definitely come to my mind but yes, spirited will do.
Yβall wonβt believe what this kid did the other night. I witnessed it and I am still in disbelief.
She had every excuse and reason under the sun to not go to sleep. From 8-11 was non stop shouting and singing and playing and anything but sleeping. But then, a whole new level.
She said she had to pee. Itβs a common excuse for her so we said go to sleep (she wears a diaper to bed anyway).
This sASShole TOOK OFF HER DIAPER AND PISSED IN HER BED.
Yβall. If she ainβt the queen of gaining control I donβt know who is.
All I can pray after her escapades that night is that she has the same tenacity in her future career – because by golly if youβre gonna have it, USE IT. ππΌ
Anyways, on to the golden child.
But for real, her shirt says “heart of gold”. π
Leighton is still chill as ever. She loves to play, clap, wave and has been babbling lots of “ba”s and “ma”s….no “da” sound yet so I may win this battle. π
Elle is also the chunkiest chunk in all the land. She’s rocking clothes at 7.5 months that KB wore at 1.5 years. π
While Kensie may push us to our limits at times, she’s still got the BIGGEST heart and the biggest love for “my cutie girl”.
Last weekend was full of football, family, birthday parties…and better days than the ones where our child intentionally peed in her bed. π
The upcoming weekend is about to be filled with melatonin for her own good because LAWT if I’m not at my wits end…π€·πΌββοΈπ
If youβve got Thays in you…you gotta rock Packers gearUnintentionally twinning with these cuties π―ββοΈLoves her some Ava π₯°Princess Camilaβs 5th birthday party! π₯³A special visit from Mikayla and Joe! β€οΈAnd just a cute picture from one of our daily photo sessions while sheβs still young enough to oblige and smile. π₯°
I was so pumped to hop on here tonight and tell you guys that the passes WORKED!
As you can see in the photo, she’s OUT with one pass left hanging! π₯³
The trick all week seemed to be coming back in to turn her light on. π€·πΌββοΈ After that, she’d go right to sleep…until tonight. π
Tonight was back to screaming and yelling for me to come in her room; however, this one was different. I wasn’t worried that she was scared or really needed me – it was full on fake whining/yelling to get her way. π πΌββοΈ The good news is that it was much more short lived than it was last week – and I’ll still call 4/5 nights a win! ππΌ
This is what we call BEST ππΌ LIFE ππΌ
It was a big week for KB during her waking hours, too!
If you’ve followed our blog for a while, you know Kensie has been in swim (which started as survival classes) since she was 8 months old. She always plays in our backyard in her princess dresses and rainboots, so Chris wanted to make sure if she fell in the pool in that outfit, she’d be okay.
After 3 days with Mrs. Heidi, we are feeling so confident that K is totally prepared if an accident were to happen. I was so impressed how long she was able to float in a heavy dress and boots full of water! πͺπΌ
K even finished the week by begging to keep swimming and didn’t want her turn to be over. π
We are so thankful we found Swimsprouts and for the skills and passion Mrs. Heidi has for all of the babies she teaches life saving skills to every day!!
Elle starts her survival lessons in just a few weeks.
Taking notes π
Over the holidays K really hadn’t been to the gym much, so lately she’s been BEGGING to go. This week she’s been especially sweet to everyone, complete with running hugs to greet people. π₯°
She also hopped in on a workout with me this week and it made me realize how much she’s grown!! I remember bringing this babe with me to the gym for the first time at just 5 weeks old…now 3+ years later I have a speedy little running buddy. β€οΈ
Of course Elle was there too, being her happy angelic self.
Gah this little babe is just the best. Random and off topic; but I planned to keep Leighton home for about a year. I thought it would be so easy to put her in daycare after that since I’ve been through it already. But, nope.
These girls are the freaking BEST together. β€οΈβ€οΈ
HOW could I not want to spend my days with this little bundle of pure joy?! I know I’ve still got time and no hard deadline, but until she gets a solid vocabulary she’s pretty irresistible. π
Last but not least: THANK YOU to everyone who commented with tips/tricks/advice because several friends have benefitted from all of your potty training and sleep tactics!! ππΌππΌ
This must be what they meant when they say it takes a village!! #momsquad
THANK you guys for all the tips, tricks and advice on getting K to fall asleep!
It’s been an easier 3 nights since I last blogged because one night I fell asleep in her bed and the other she spent at grandmas…π solid start.
Tonight though, is the night. We’ve got passes hung and once they’re gone, she can’t call us in her room anymore. π€πΌ I mean I guess she can, and I assume she will, but we won’t come. π πΌββοΈ
When I explained them to her she already said “so you snuggle with me 4 times?” π ….gonna dodge that bullet with a 5 minute timer.
Of course my MIL found the CUTEST pass hanger!!
Not much to update on in sassland since we spent almost 2 days kid free while Chris and I celebrated my birthday with friends!
THANK YOU to everyone for all of the sweet texts, calls, hugs. Starbucks cards and for just taking the time out to say “happy birthday”! I felt so very loved!!
KB got me the best gift of all…Chris asked her what she wanted to get me and she said “a mommy shark so we can play together” (she has the baby shark). He asked 2 days in a row and she held strong, so I’m now the proud owner of Mommy Shark. π
Sheβs the most thoughtful little bug. β€οΈ
So, so thankful to have our parents close enough and WILLING to give us a break every now and then! They love having them, K loves to visit them and they get time with their cousins – win/win!
So in short, K is still pooping in her pants (potty chart is not encouraging her π) and L likes to clap, wave and drool. Thrilling, I know.
And Kens asks to hold her sister every day. β€οΈShe told L to make a silly face π
I got the house (mostly) decorated for Valentines Day and Chris is not sure why I decorated so early. I’m not really sure what the appropriate timeline is but maybe I was having withdrawals from taking the Christmas decor down. π€·πΌββοΈ
…or maybe I just couldn’t resist all the new Hand & Hearth decor and felt the need to cover my house with it STAT. π
Found the cutest PINK vase on CLEARANCE at Home Goods ππΌAnd if weβre friends on social media…you now know about my garland obsession π
Probably the latter.
Today we got to celebrate Addison’s 3rd birthday and Luke’s 1st birthday at the CUTEST Toy Story party by Encantos Orlando!
This week we’re finally back to “normal”, though I’m not even sure what that means for us anymore. π€ͺ
But, here’s a super cute photo of Elle and a hilarious one that Chris took of K last year on my birthday that I found in my memories. Still the top photo of her life. π€£π€£
They talk about sleep regressions during the first year. 4 months. 7 months. (I made those exact ages up, but you get the jist, they’re a thing).
Is there one for 3 years and 2 months old?! Because LORTTTT I cannot take one more night of this child’s nighttime antics and drama.
K has had no problem sleeping in her own room in her big girl bed since we moved into our house in May. She does go through phases (more often than not) where she wakes up in the middle of the night…usually around 2a, and crawls into our bed.
I know she’ll grow out of that all too soon and for now, I’m completely ok with the few hours she comes and sleeps next to us.
But PUTTING her to bed?! I don’t know what happened. It used to be a simple read a story, say prayers, she lays down and we’re done with it.
It slowly progressed into a 10-15 min process of her “needing to pee” or “needing water” or “tuck me in”.
It starts with ridiculous excuses then escalates to wanting me or daddy to come lay with her until she falls asleep. I wouldn’t mind if that was a 5 minute ordeal; but, if you lay in K’s bed with her she thinks it’s party time and getting her to hush and close her eyes is near impossible. She starts talking, asking 82994 questions, asking to read more books…it doesn’t end.
Here’s where I feel bad: she’s been saying she’s scared and full on sobbing.
I know she can work it with the best of them, but if she really is scared, I would feel so bad ignoring her and just letting her cry herself to sleep. On the flip side, I don’t want to get her into the habit of us sleeping in her bed every night…
The last 2 nights after about an hour of drama she asked for her light to be on. We turned it on and she went to sleep.
Do kids just randomly become scared of the dark one day?! I feel like it’s a legitimate fear because I, too, have been there; π I just don’t know where it’s all coming from.
A friend of mine suggested “monster spray” which we tried last night. It was a temporary fix, but she moved past it to still wanting one of us to lay with her.
Today she told me about a great idea to use passes. Her daughter would keep saying she had to potty, so they gave her “potty passes” and once she used them all she couldn’t get up and had to go to bed. She suggested giving her passes to call us in there. Once they’re gone she has to go to sleep.
Part of me is hopeful, the other part of me knows Kensie basically tosses any rules/games/tricks out the window when she’s determined enough. π€£
If anyone has any other tips, tricks, or ways for my kid to go back to just GOING TO BED without losing her mind over it every night, please share!!
In other news, we had a busy but wonderful weekend with dear friends and family! We took a little road trip up to Jacksonville to celebrate Niall’s 2nd birthday!
From fishbowls to 3.5 kids. When did this happen, Keelin?! LolAunt Awesome.
Kensie was the SWEETEST girl that day. She played so nicely with the other kids, shared, used her manners, and even displayed the most patience EVER while watching Niall open his presents.
Of course Elle was an angel babe, too.
The next day was another mini road trip to celebrate Chris’ Grandma’s 90th birthday!
Oldest and youngest! β€οΈ
L loves her Uncle Matt!
Leighton’s outfit is a KB hand me down but all of it is from Old Navy! After spending way too much money for some torn jeans on Etsy, I bought some old navy jeggings, found a handy YouTube tutorial, whipped out a blade and cut them myself. ππΌ
As you can see in this post, I took way more photos of L than K this weekend. K was busy running around with her cousinsand telling me no if I asked for a picture. π€·πΌββοΈ
…back when she let me take 82839 photos a day…
Leightonhas been a happy clappin‘, waving, babbling, drooling little hunk of love as always. We are so gratefully soaking in these pre-talking/no attitude days. π
I know K won’t need us next to her to fall asleep forever, but I really hope these girlsdon’t grow out of wanting these morning snuggles any year soon!!
Elle is our long, chunky bundle of pure love and smiles. I remember this age being my favorite with K and it’s true so far with L, too! She’s starting to show so much of her personality and while she can roll and army crawl her way across a room she isn’t completely mobile yet. π
Her bond with Kensie is the best part of it all. K was the first one to ever make L laugh and she’s still just as entertained by her today.
Kensie may be in the thick of the 3s as far as her attitude goes, but she is consistently the BEST big sister to Leighton.
She plays with her, shares with her, checks on her and is constantly giving her hugs and kisses and saying “hi my cutie girllll” π
Leighton is still our little angel baby. She’s content in just about any situation, takes solid naps and only wakes briefly to eat at night. It’s the toddler I’m constantly exhausted from. π
We’re still going to the chiropractor regularly and I still swear by it!! We went longer than usual without an appointment over the holidays and it shows in her temperament and sleep.
We’ve been taking K to Revival Chiropractic since she was 2 months old and L since she was 24 hours old and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Cuellar and their entire practice. If you have a baby and are having ANY issues, from eating to sleeping to sickness to “colic”…give them a call. They don’t hold a baby by the ankles and crack their back like people think. π
I’m excited and thankful to watch this babe grow but I am already missing my “baby” and feeling like 7 months was lightyears ago. Luckily we have 12…yes, TWELVE, more babies joining our crew between now and June so I can get my baby fix without having to birth another one myself. π (Even though Kensie keeps asking if there’s another baby in my belly…π there’s NOT, to clarify).
Speaking of KB…I grabbed this magnetic potty chart off Amazon in hopes to get this child to poop on the potty!
We tried the treasure box thing but it sort of back fired. She was excited for about 5 seconds until she realized she couldn’t have EVERYTHING in the box at once and lost her mind. π€¦πΌββοΈ
I’m also going to attempt to use the chart to convince K to stay in her bed until her Hatch light comes on, too, but I won’t hold my breath on that one. She turned it on herself the other night and said “mommy! Look! It’s pink. I can get up now!”
So, thank you God, for sending me myself as a child. I feel every ounce of your payback.
I’d also like to blame her recent night time tantrums for me not posting L’s 7 month update on time (it was yesterday) because she now likes to yell and scream for at least 1 hour a night and tell us she’s scared and beg someone to sleep in her bed with her or let her sleep in our bed. She’s a persistent little sasshole. π€¬
Iβm 2 night time tantrums away from actually reading this book to her.
And last but not least – Amazon, if you’re reading this…I’d like a job as your Head of Shipping Efficiency. If you don’t have that department already, I’ll gladly create it. If you do, fire all your management because the excessively large boxes you send tiny things in baffles me.
If y’all never hear from me again, it’s because Jeff Bezos called and I’m now a millionaire. βπΌ
These last few weeks have been full of family, friends, parties, laughter, love, way too many gifts for Kensie π, and too many memories to cover one by one…so here’s the highlights. π€ͺ
There was bribing involved to get K to participate in this photo session.
We spent Christmas Eve with the Hall side of the family at B’s house! She hosted us all for our annual white elephant gift exchange and of course spoiled all the kiddos with thoughtful gifts and allll the love.
Elle and B πβ€οΈThe Halls!Great Aunt Chrissie!
We got back in town super late, but we tracked Santa on the NORAD website and K kept an eye out the whole drive back in case she saw his sleigh. She was really worried he was going to come before we got home and think we weren’t there and not leave her presents. π She also wanted to stay up so she could talk to him. We convinced her to leave him cookies and go to bed…
L just over here helping herself. π€¦πΌββοΈπK is excited. L is still trying to steal cookies.
We had their adorable Christmas PJs made by my sweet friend that owns Monograms and Mimosas
Christmas morning was one for the books! This was the first year K (mostly) understood Santa and Christmas…though she kept confusing Santa and Jesus when “birthday” was mentioned. π€·πΌββοΈπ
Her “big” gift was quite literally, BIG. She has a few smaller houses that she plays with every single day, so we knew she’d LOVE a huge dollhouse!! (plus y’all know I love a good Amazon deal ππΌ)
L was spoiled with alllll the things she could put in her mouth, and her favorite is the baby doll K got her. Not sure if y’all knew Cabbage Patch Dolls double as teethers, but it’s quite useful. π
We spent the morning playing with (and putting away because I can’t deal with clutter π) all the new goodies while Chris made us some yummy Christmas pancakes! Healthy, I know, but K loves them and any calories we can get her to consume is a win to us. ππΌ
Also, she loves bacon. Like LOVES it. Which is so weird to me that this picky of an eater would touch a brown, less than pleasant looking piece of meat. Haha!!
My family came to town to spend the rest of Christmas Day with us and of course we had to take our annual matching PJ photo!
My brother and his wife were able to make it down from Colorado so we had the whole gang together for the first time in a year! It was also the first time they met Baby Elle!
We spent the day playing games, attempting to teach K how to ride her new balance bike from Gramma and Grampa and some of the crazies (not me) got in the pool. I mean I know it’s Florida and all…but that water was in the 60s when they jumped in. π πΌββοΈ
The last of our Christmas visits included a drive up to Jax to see my Grandma and Aunt and they got to meet Leighton for the first time!
We rarely get to see each other and it was so special to see the girls play at my grandma’s house just like I did when I was little!
We spent the rest of our week making fun memories with the greatest friends! We took the kiddos to see the Johansen Lights and spent the day with one of my best friends who was in town from NC!
K wanted to go dance. Not pose. These two melt my heart. They walked around holding hands the whole time. π₯°
Kβs new favorite photo face π and of course she got Ri guy to participate π
Love love love us some Aunt Casey!
We spent the last few days of the year celebrating our sweet friend’s Golden Birthday and closed it out with the wonderful Framily we’ve created! (Minus a few)
Happy Birthday to the freshest prince(ss) there is!!
And shoutout to Encantos Orlando for creating the perfect setting for her 90’s party with their amazing backdrop and party details!
L should be sleeping. But she was committed to partying.New Years lovin…sorta. She loves him off camera π
PHEW!! Anyone still here?! π€£
I spent the extra free time purging the playroom (WHERE did all these toys come from?! π) organizing the pantry and all of the bathroom cabinets with baskets and containers and weird things that make MY OCD happy!
Probably partial because I like to nap on the Nugget when K wakes me up too early, but this is easily my favorite corner of the playroom. π₯° Name pillows are from this adorable Etsy shop and the “babe cave” pillow is from Hobby Lobby!
So grateful for each and every one of you that read and follow along on our journey! While it’s still a little strange for me when people ask “how are you?!” and as I start to talk they say “I know! I read your blog!” (Many times it’s people I don’t expect…) and it truly means so much to me. We have such a huge family & “framily” and I love being able to use this outlet to stay connected with friends and family that we don’t get to see every day all while creating an awesome website of memories for the girls to look back on when they’re older!
Because how else do I record Kβs obsession with Tutus, Elsa and sticking her tongue out for photos? π
While OF COURSE I’ll still be sharing a ton about the girls, I’m also going to start sharing other things I love!! This is something that’s been on my mind for the last 2-3 months and I have no idea why I didn’t just start then π€·πΌββοΈ
It’s no secret I love to shop π, decorate & host! So many of the things I love I find from other blogs I read or because someone else has recommended them to me…so I should obviously pay it forward. π
If there’s anything you think I should share here that I don’t already, let me hear it!
Happy 2020!!! π₯
We’ll be back tomorrow with Leighton’s 7 MONTH update! π
Leighton’s first time on an airplane was a breeze which was the perfect start to our weekend full of making the best memories.
Fact: if you put on a bow, PJs are acceptable at all times of the day.Doing what she does best. ππΌ
Of course in between her naps L had to talk to everyone on the plane.
It included lots of jumping and dino screeches.
Kensie was good, too, which was the real wild card here. π
Aside from the fact that she didnβt doze off until 5 minutes before we landed.
We flew to Ohio to visit some of our best friends that moved from Florida a few months ago. If you follow our blog or you’re friends with me on social media, you know KB was SO PUMPED to see her best friend Henley. She still talks about her every day and even asks to get extra snacks to bring for her every time we leave the house.
Watching these 2 together again was the greatest. They played, they fought, they hugged and they lived their best lives! ππΌ
Fake sleeping. Obviously. This would never be real life. π€·πΌββοΈ
Uncle Will spoiled us with a suite to the hockey game!!! And Chris was our breakfast chef for the weekend.
On Friday, the guys went to the hunting cabin and the girls went to see Santa!!
We’ve taken Kensie and Henley together for a Santa photo each year and usually we get a solid photo of them screaming. This year they both talked to Santa but had no interest in sitting with him. Fair trade.
Kensie didn’t cry until we had to walk away and she was extremely confused as to why Santa didn’t hand her the rainbow and paw patrol box she just asked him for. π Y’all, she thought he was basically a server at a restaurant. π€¦πΌββοΈ
Shout out to the real Santa, Amazon Prime, for having those exact things delivered to our door before we even returned from the trip. ππΌπ
Of course Leighton wasn’t phased. She even laid her head on his fuzzy jacket. π₯°
We also planned the timing of this trip so that we could meet Henley’s new baby sister, Devyn!
L greeted her future Bestie with a headbutt. *No babies were harmed in the making of this photo. π
It was so special to have all 4 girls together for a long weekend and get to celebrate Christmas with this crew!!
Thanks to Mommers and Papa (Henley’s grandparents) we even got a parent’s night out!! We hit up a cool Christmas pop up bar and had dinner in peace. ππΌ
On our last morning, we woke up to the most gorgeous snowfall!
It was the best weekend and we were all so sad to go back home πͺ
This week we are back to our usual craziness, with 3 parties to host and Christmas shopping galore!! π
Each year we run a Holiday Accountability Challenge at the gym where current and new members donate money so we can buy tons of toys and donate them to a toy drive! This year we donated to Baby DJ which benefits local families in need.
Party planning, shopping (and couponing π) crew! And of course the best shopping partner of them all, the cutest βEllefβ in town π
Last but not least…I know I skipped out on the 12 days of K mas this year, but my moody sasshole would have made the experience less than enjoyable. π I do have something else up my sleeve for y’all…
It’s been an eventful 10 days with the Hall clan and the littlest member of the crew had her half birthday! π₯³
The evolution of trying to take her photo…
The chunk is 1inch longer and 1lb heavier than K was at her age…and let me tell ya, a 1 inch difference in baby clothes is a WHOLE size. π
Leighton LOVES her big sis. She lights up when I show her videos of her if she’s at daycare and constantly giggles watching K play.
She saves her biggest smiles for daddy and even reaches for him when he gets home!
Elle has sucked on an apple and a strawberry and gets pissed when you take them away. She even had mashed sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving & it was a hit! She growled for more. π
Then we gave her peas and oatmeal. Her face was less than pleasant when she tasted the peas but she kept going in for more. π€·πΌββοΈBut she was mainly interested in eating the spoon. π€¦πΌββοΈ
L is the happiest morning babe and chatters until you’re come pick her up. When she sees you, she gives you the sweetest smile and reaches up with her little nub arms that are stuck in her swaddle. π
She’s trying REAL hard to crawl but manages to roll, scoot and army crawl her way around until she figures out the whole “knee bend” part.
When I was pregnant with K I pictured having a brown hair, green eyed baby. The vision was right…just wrong kid. π I still love my brown eyed blondie of course.
Even when she refuses to let me fix her hair π
I participated in No Sugar November with the gym and it was AMAZING not only for me, but for L!! 10 days in, she started eating so quickly and only waking once a night since my milk had so many more nutrients for her! ππΌ
I cannot believe how quickly time is going by with this babblin’, smilin’ happy little babe. π’
Thanksgiving was EXTRA special this year. My entire family from Wisconsin was able to come to Florida and not only did we get to host dinner for both sides of our family, but we were able to get everyone together so that my Grandpa could baptize the girls!
Full house, full bellies and full hearts β€οΈβ€οΈGramps! (Their great grandpa)B, Papa and Sarah
We spent the long weekend hanging at the pool, cooking out (because, Florida), playing games and drank our way through the Disney Springs Trail of Trees.ππ
Thaysgiving 2019!
My Wisconsin family was amused by our βsnoapβ π βοΈ
This is us π€ͺ
Kensie has been…Kensie. π She likes to wear tutus, jewelry and heels everywhere she goes and have meltdowns when she doesn’t get her way. π€·πΌββοΈ
But also…SHE POOPED ON THE POTTY THIS WEEKEND and I’m not sure who was more proud – us or her. π€£π€£
She’s perfected her mean mug and her attitude grows by the day. I’m just over here praying it means she’ll be a strong independent woman who takes shit from no one. π€·πΌββοΈ
K is consistently the BEST big sister and had her first babysitting gig yesterday while I got ready. I even gave her a quarter for her piggy bank. Deal was off if she made Leighton cry though. π
We closed out our weekend decorating Christmas cookies with B and the girls’ cousins!
Leighton didn’t get to shove everything on the table into her mouth like she’d hoped, but I think she got enough attention to make up for it. π
This week we will be taking our first flight βοΈ as a family of 4! π³ I think the girls will both do great (knock on wood) – I’m far more concerned with the amount of crap we have to pack. π
It will be so worth it though, because Kensie hasn’t stopped asking to go on a plane to see Henley for months…so, Merry Christmas kiddo! π
I’ll have you know I’ve been working on this post for 4 days now. Not that there’s anything remarkably time consuming in it…I just couldn’t stay awake long enough to get it finished. Ha!!!
We’re winding down from an exciting and eventful week(plus) and gearing up for another!
The exciting news…Our pool is done!! The days of dirt tracking through the house aren’t quite hindsight yet, but I’m telling myself it’ll be worth it. π
As you can see, K is unbothered by the mess and prefers we leave mounds of dirt in the back around her “stage”. π€¦πΌββοΈ Her daily request is to put on her boots and go play in “muddy puddles” (thanks, Peppa Pig).
I am SO thankful for all of Chris’ hard work to make it happen and the pure sweat equity he put into the deck! We’ve still got some work ahead of us but at least we have a water hole to jump into afterward. π€·πΌββοΈπ
We had a wonderful FriendsGiving/birthday celebration for a friend over the weekend and it’s safe to say L and K had a blast.
L went to town on some strawberries πAnd K partied too hard. I canβt remember the last time this babe fell asleep in my arms. β€οΈ
It was extra sweet since she’s been killing me with this whole transition to calling me “mom”. π
We attempted to get a family photo since I NEVER remember to do that lately and all it did was solidify why we pay the professionals…
K didnβt want to participate so we were just going to take a photo while she ignored us.Then Elle flipped the plate over and the chips went everywhere π
…#ThisIsUs π€·πΌββοΈπ
Speaking of paying the professionals, if we’re friends on social media,l you know we got our Christmas photos back this week and I couldn’t be happier with them! Not only was the end product amazing, but it was a MUCH less exhausting experience than our Newborn/Family session a few months ago. π€¦πΌββοΈπ
I’d say here’s a few of my favorites but there’s 4x more where this came from and I’m biased.
I may have had them printed and already displayed all over our house in less than 12 hours…
Keeping with the Christmas spirit, we took Kensie on a special date with just mommy and daddy on Sunday to see the Disney Jr. Live Holiday party! She had SO much fun after she got over “but sister!! We leave sister at home?” (To be clear, we had a babysitter π)
Watching her face light up with the most genuine smile when she saw Mickey and Santa was priceless – though I still doubt she will sit on Santa’s lap this year.
Not a fan of the sound of blasting snow and confetti π
The best part is everyone thought she dressed up for the show. Little to they know this is her everyday attire. π
Of course Elle needed some special time, too. This babe is SO freaking chill that I feel like sometimes I don’t give her enough attention because I am always “go go go”; but the fact that she’s turning 6 months next week was a good reminder to slow down and soak her and all her perfect baby-ness in. β€οΈ
So we napped in mommaβs arms instead of the crib. π₯° (also thereβs food in my teeth but whatever π€£)The ππΌ good ππΌ life ππΌShe got extra lovin at FriendsGiving from all her preggo aunties while her big sister slept πAnd snuggs for the beautiful hostess
And the answer to the question I’ve been asked 91740 times since Friday: YES WE SAW FROZEN 2! Hahahaha
And she wasnβt interested in photos πTheatre to ourselves had its perks ππΌββοΈLove love love Aunt Emmy β€οΈ
PHEW! I think I covered the highlights. Sprinkle in some playing, toddler tantrums, visits with friends and lots of laundry and it’s a solid recap. ππΌ
Oh. And mom friends -KB still won’t poop in a toilet (at home. She does at daycare π‘) so all advice is welcomed. π for now we’re just waiting it out…and bribing doesn’t work.π€·πΌββοΈ
